Monday’s Numbers

By fred | December 5, 2007

Yes, numbers are slow to come in these days. Finally results for Monday are in, no sign of those of last night though.

About Monday, Dancing With The Stars is no more, and it shows. ABC used to dominate the night and this isn’t really the case anymore, just ask Samantha! Meanwhile the most depressing result of the night might come from CBS, which was the most watched network despite having nothing but reruns to offer. How sad is that ?

At 8.00 only NBC offered something new, with an fresh episode of Chuck. It did well, came first on the 18-49 demo but Charlie Brown was really close (3.2 vs 3.1) and came first, watched by 9.3 million viewers against 8.5 for Chuck, winning about 100 000 viewers. Right after with 8.3 million viewers came a rerun of House on Fox, yes that is about one million more viewers than new episodes of Prison Break used to do on that slot.

Now that, at 9.00, there’s no more dancing to lead-in, Samantha Who? might be wondering where the viewers went. Only 7.5 million viewers tuned in, which is bad when you know it used to do 14-15 million. I’m not surprised, I don’t think the show is that funny or good, so a strong lead-in was probably the only reason it scored so high. The show definitely is not the best new comedy of the season…

On NBC people have realized that Heroes was no more the show it used to be back in its first season, and they simply stopped watching. For its season finale the show lost almost one million viewers and was watched by 3 million less viewers than its horrible season premiere was back in September (11 million vs 14 million).

A repeat of Two And A Half Men came first with 12.3 million viewers. Although I’m sure a few people had this episode set on their DVR and will be watching in later, enjoy the fast forward capacity that comes along such viewing.

On Fox only 4.8 million people tuned in for K-Ville, again reruns are better : last week’s repeat of Bones faced stronger competition and still had 6.5 million people watching.

At 10.00, results weren’t fantastic for Life, but they were good nevertheless. It did a little better than last week on Wednesday (6.6 million vs 6.3 million), and better than last week’s Journeyman (6.2 million) on that same slot, which had a stronger lead-in. Besides, for those actually watching Heroes, the lead-out spot might be a bit of a dead one, just like coming after Lost is : people want to talk about what they just saw, not watch something else.

As usual, all results are on a nice chart below :
