Monday’s Numbers
By fred | April 15, 2008
On Monday, ABC could count on Dancing With The Stars, most-watched program of the night, to help bring in many viewers. It did, and the Alphabet won the night in total viewers. But with the comedy night, CBS was able to do quite well and win on the demo.
At 8.00 Dancing With The Stars won the slot easy, with 16.5 million viewers. Meanwhile, no other program could reach 10 million viewers. But the thing that mattered was the return, in a new timeslot, of Bones. Bones is actually a pretty good, entertaining and underrated show, that I personally think Fox should have put on the post-Superbowl slot. Anyways, it was back and it didn’t perform as good as it used to on Tuesdays, with 8.5 million viewers and 2.8 on the demo.
Still, it’s better than Prison Break used to do on Mondays (though not on the demo), and much better than Drive, who had 5.7 million viewers and a 2.3 on the demo on April 15, 2007.
How I Met Your Mother did a little less than two weeks ago with 8 million viewers, but while they may not have lost as many viewers it might be The Big Bang Theory who looks bad, because over the entire night it was the only program on CBS not able to reach a 3.0 on the demo (2.9), while even the rerun of CSI: Miami did so. And can anyone explain to me again why How I Met Your Mother still hasn’t been renewed !??
One hour later Dancing With The Stars was still winning the slot, being in its most-watched half-hour with 18 million viewers. But if Two And A Half Men had 4.2 million less viewers, it was much better on the demo (5.3 vs 4.4) Samantha Who? lost viewers since last week, down to 10 million while it used to keep about 14 to 15 million of them before the strike. Of course, back then it was new and people could still hope it’d be funny at some point…
Meanwhile it was the season finale for New Amsterdam, and with 6.8 million viewers and 2.1 on the demo, we could call it a series finale. After having watched the episode, I’d say that’s not really a problem.
At 10.00 a rerun (CSI: Miami, 10.6 million) won the slot, but Medium on NBC performed better on the demo (3.1 vs 3.0)
