Monday’s Numbers

By fred | March 18, 2008

Last night wasn’t just the return of scripted comedy on CBS, but also the return of Dancing With The Stars on ABC. As expected, the Alphabet won the night, but the return of comedy to the air was more than welcome for CBS.

At 8.00 Dancing With The Stars crushed everything else, close to 21 million viewers while the next most-watched program at that time didn’t reach 10 million. With that said, guess who we’re talking about here ? That’s right, How I Met You Mother hit a season high with 9.7 million viewers and was the second most-watched program at that time !

Hear that CBS, the show doesn’t need no ex-pop-star to guest, they’re doing better than already renewed The Big Bang Theory. Now stop being stupid and renew our great little show already!

Anyways, The Big Bang Theory didn’t reach a season high but still performed quite well, with 9.1 million viewers. After that came Canterbury’s Law, loosing almost 2 million viewers since last week and, once again, performing poorly on the demo. Needless to say, this show might not stay on for long…

At 9.00 no change : still Dancing With The Stars on ABC, still close to 21 million viewers, still way ahead of any competition. But, this time CBS went over the 10 million, as the new Two And A Half Men was followed by 14 million people. Half an hour later and despite a pretty strong lead-in The Bachelor on ABC fell down to 9.7 million viewers (yep, pretty impressive to loose over 11 million viewers like that!) while New Adventures Of Old Christine had just about that, 11.5 million viewers watching CBS.

Meanwhile on Fox, New Amsterdam isn’t doing so good, with 7.3 million viewers. Still growing from its lead-in, but that’s also 1.5 million less viewers than last week. And if Prison Break didn’t do much better, it always performed good in the demo, over 3, while New Amsterdam “only” did 2.3 Next week it better stop loosing viewers or it’s a goner, but after such a flawed episode, I’m not sure it will happen…

And at 10.00 a new Medium won the slot with 9.9 million viewers, finally beating the rerun of CSI: Miami in total viewers, as well as on the demo, and The Bachelor was dead last with 8.6 million viewers, but managed to beat everything else on the demo with a 3.3
