Monday’s Numbers [12.01.2008]
By fred | December 2, 2008
For the first night of December CBS only had repeats to offer, but (sadly) that was enough. The Eye won the night, both in total viewers and on the demo, even though no net would get 10 million viewers (CBS averaged 9.93 million).
At 8.00 it was all about reruns, first the ones from ABC (How The Grinch Stole Christmas, 11.71 million, and Shrek The Halls, 11.17 million) and then the ones from CBS (How I Met Your Mother, 8.03 million, and The Big Bang Theory, 8.02 million). All those reruns beat the new programs airing at the same time, which is a shame because those were really great ones!
Not that they didn’t get a boost though. On NBC Chuck scored a new season high with 7.25 million viewers (+700 000) and 2.5 on the demo, while Fox had a new Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles with 5.83 million viewers (+1.2 million) and 2.2 on the demo, numbers the show didn’t reach for weeks (usually more around 5.3 million and 2.0).
On The CW a new Gossip Girl was back above 3 million viewers (3.08 million, 1.5 on the demo) after a little hit a couple of weeks ago.
At 9.00 the rerun of Two And A Half Men won the slot, and more than that since it was the most-watched program of the night, in viewers and on the demo, with still 13.66 million viewers. But a lighter competition didn’t benefit Heroes much, with 7.90 million viewers and 3.5 on the demo the show was actually down on the demo. The rerun of Worst Week (7.87 million) beat both episodes of Samantha Who? (6.78 and 6.79 million) and just as well as on the demo (2.2)
Prison Break actually benefited from a lighter competition, up half a million viewers with 5.80 million and a 2.2 on the demo. On The CW it was the first of two special airings for Privileged, and with 2.20 million viewers and 1.0 on the demo results aren’t ideal. One Tree Hill usually have a much better retention and even managed to do slightly better last week without Gossip Girl as lead-in. But it was a little boost for Privileged, back above 2 million viewers and at 1.0 on the demo. Let’s hope it gets even better next week!
At 10.00 CSI: Miami won the slot hands down, despite being a rerun, with 11.01 million viewers and 3.1 on the demo. Way behind came Boston Legal with 8.39 million viewers (-300 000) and My Own Worst Enemy at a new series low with 4.03 million viewers (-300 000) and 1.7 on the demo, no wonder it’s canceled.
