Monday’s Numbers
By fred | February 6, 2008
A little late but numbers for Monday are in, and guess who won the night ? That’s right, ABC did! Shocking, I know.
At 8.00 the Alphabet came first with Dance War, followed by American Gladiators on NBC, topping the slot on the 18-49 demo. That’s all very sad, I know. Then came the series premiere of Welcome To The Captain (at 8.30) with 8.1 million viewers. That doesn’t sound too bad, especially since in grew from its lead-in (a rerun of How I Met Your Mother) by 300 000 viewers, but keep in mind it was a series premiere.
Now let’s be honest, none of those 8 millions will return, at least I hope not. Because I finally watched it, the full episode, and something that may not be a good sign for a sitcom, as this show claims to be : I did not laugh, not once, not even smile. Ever. It’s so bad it’s impressive, I think it makes Carpoolers look funny and, trust me, that show isn’t funny.
Sure, it stars Jeffrey Tambor of Arrested Development fame, and yes, Joanna Garcia is really cute, but it’s nothing funny and even if you want to like the show, I don’t think you can. We really need writers to come back so we can have our 30 Rock, How I Met Your Mother and other The Office back !
Anyways, back on Monday’s numbers, Prison Break got 7.5 million viewers still suffering and hoping for an escape that wouldn’t come, that’s less than before but still average for this season.
Now at 9.00 came a new episode of Terminator, and it did… okay. A little under 9 million viewers, about 200 000 more viewers than last episode, which may sound good but after all the heavy promo during the Superbowl might not sound that good. It’s still doing good, we’re far from a Bionic Woman effect, and it’s still growing from its lead-in each week. So the show might have a fan base of somewhere a little under 9 million, which isn’t too bad.
New Adventures Of Old Christine had a new season premiering at 9.30 and it was followed by 9.3 million people, and with a lead-in at 12.2 million that’s not the best. But it got beaten by a strong 20/20 an ABC (11 million), when Notes From The Underbelly and its less than 5 million will be back, Christine might do better.
At 10.00 Deal Or No Deal won the slot with 13.8 million viewers, making it the most watched program of the night, before a close 20/20 (only 400 000 less viewers), and a rerun of CSI: Miami millions behind.
