Monday’s Numbers [11.17.2008]

By fred | November 18, 2008

NumbersCBS comedy night is definitely doing wonders, there’s no question there. While it had a little less viewers than a week ago (-300 000) for its series high, The Big Bang Theory still did very well with 9.70 million viewers and 3.7 on the demo. And that led into a new high for How I Met Your Mother and 9.84 million viewers, and an excellent 4.3 on the demo.

Last week it was a tie, and this week - while and having almost 9.5 million less viewers - How I Met Your Mother beat Dancing With The Stars on the demo. Clearly things are doing well for CBS. On NBC it might not look it, but it was good news as well. Chuck had half a million more viewers than last week, and a new season high with 6.80 million viewers and 2.6 on the demo.

Sadly the same can’t be said on Fox, because while slightly up Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles only had 5.31 million viewers and a 2.0 — so here’s to hoping Fox really intends to give it a chance on Fridays, as odd as that might sound. Lastly at 8.00 was Gossip Girl on The CW, and it was down once again, going below 3 million for the first time this season : 2.88 million viewers and 1.5 on the demo. What’s happening??

At 9.00 the comedy continued to shine on CBS, Two And A Half Men being the winner on the demo with 5.3 with “only” 15.23 million viewers, beating the 4.6 of Dancing With The Stars and its 20.69 million viewers. The news of more episodes ordered did good to Worst Week, delivering its second best performance ever (after the pilot) with 10.37 million viewers (+800 000); and a 3.2 on the demo.

Meanwhile on ABC, Samantha Who? remained stable with 11.12 million viewers, but only a 3.0 on the demo. On NBC Heroes continued to lose viewers, down 200 000 viewers, with 7.59 million, but remained stable on the demo with a 3.6 On Fox, Prison Break went up half a million viewers and getting closer to 6 million viewers (5.89 million, 2.3)

Following its lead-in lead, on The CW One Tree Hill was down to a new season low as well, and also below 3 million, with 2.73 million viewers and a 1.3 on the demo.

At 10.00 on CBS things were definitely good as CSI: Miami went up 1.7 million viewers (15.39 million) and winning the demo with a nice 4.2 (last time the show scored a 4.0 was on October 6th) Meanwhile Boston Legal was down 400 000 viewers (8.43 million, 2.3) while My Own Worst Enemy dropped to a new low, not even really reaching 4 million viewers (3.99 million) and not getting a 2.0 on the demo either (1.9) No wonder it’s been canceled, though this is NBC it could have been picked up, too…
