Monday’s Numbers [11.10.2008]
By fred | November 11, 2008
After Mondays with special programs due to elections or baseball, last night was finally a regular Monday, something we haven’t seen in three weeks. And in the end, results are pretty much the same for CBS and ABC, but both NBC and Fox are going down.
At 8.00 the CBS comedies prove once again how strong they are, The Big Bang Theory scoring a new series high and reaching 10 million viewers (10.01 million) for the first time ! In fact, during that first half-hour the comedy was also the number one show on the demo, as Dancing With The Stars only pulled a 3.8 by then. That led into How I Met Your Mother also doing very well, a little lower in viewers (9.71 million) but stronger on the demo (4.1)
Meanwhile on NBC Chuck was back and down 300 000 viewers (6.23 million, 2.3 on the demo), and on Fox the latest and awesome installment of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles stayed stable compared to last week, with 5.19 million viewers and a 2.0 on the demo. On The CW, Gossip Girl lost 200 000 viewers with still 3.01 million of them and 1.5 on the demo.
At 9.00 and as usual Two And A Half Men was back up with its 14.58 million viewers, and pulled the best performance of the night on the demo (4.9) Lead-out Worst Week is still not doing too well, retaining only 9.62 million viewers (2.9 on the demo). On ABC Samantha Who? benefited from a stronger lead-in (and better retention on the demo, 68% vs 59%) with 11.03 million viewers and 3.0 on the demo.
On NBC things are really not doing well, and Heroes continues to sink, reaching a new series-low below 8 million viewers. Only 7.82 million viewers for the once-hit show, and a 3.6 on the demo. While the numbers aren’t that bad considering this is NBC, is the show can’t stop loosing viewers soon enough, maybe there won’t be a fourth season to try again to fix things (only to admit mistakes where made but everything will be better now, just stick around as we get there…)
Prison Break managed to gain about 200 000 viewers, with 5.41 million viewers and a 2.2 on the demo. Not good, and yet better than the average so far this season. Meanwhile on The CW, One Tree Hill did it once again, better than its lead-in. Both shows had about 3.01 million viewers, but OTH scored a 1.7 on the demo.
Finally at 10.00, CSI: Miami was in good shape, up one million to 13.67 million viewers and a 3.7 on the demo. Boston Legal went back above the 8 million, reaching 9 with 8.83 million viewers and 2.3 on the demo, about the average for the show this season. Finally, My Own Worst Enemy is clearly another failure for NBC/Ben Silverman, tanking to a new series low with only 4.25 million viewers and 1.8 on the demo. And really, they should move this crap to Friday and bring back Lipstick Jungle on the schedule somewhere…
