Monday’s Numbers [11.03.2008]

By fred | November 4, 2008

NumbersLast night NBC had a special line up with a two-hour Saturday Night Live Presidential Bash 2008, and that did very well. While ABC was the most-watched network (thanks to Dancing With The Stars) the Peacock won the demo very nicely with a 4.4 overnight, something that hasn’t happened in a while…

At 8.00 the good news were for CBS, where the comedy night kicked off pretty well, both sitcoms being the most-watched program of the slot after Dancing With The Stars, and actually winning the demo beating every competition including ABC’s show. The Big Bang Theory had a season high with 9.73 million viewers and a 4.0 on the demo, leading in How I Met Your Mother with slightly less viewers (9.56 million) but performing better on the demo, with a 4.1 (a season high).

Meanwhile on Fox things were far from being as good, and even if Chuck wasn’t on NBC, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles went down to a new series low with 5.16 million viewers and 2.0 on the demo. Since it got picked up, rightly so, Fox should probably think about moving it because it just doesn’t do too well right here.

On The CW however Gossip Girl was all good, about 200 000 more viewers for 3.16 million viewers and 1.7 on the demo, the show remains a solid performer — proof that The CW was right to believe in it.

At 9.00 even if Dancing With The Stars won the slot, Saturday Night Live Presidential Bash 2008 was the number one program of the night on the demo, with 15.40 million viewers and a 5.9

Two And A Half Men took a hit, and a season low with still 12.80 million viewers and 4.6 on the demo, not too bad considering. Samantha Who? continues not to have a great retention out of Dancing, and hit a season low with only 9.71 million viewers and 2.7 on the demo, making Worst Week on CBS not looking too bad, despite being the weak link of CBS lineup, since it had a better retention and 8.40 million viewers (1.3 million less than on ABC), yet performed just as well on the demo (2.7).

Sadly for Fox, the night wasn’t good and Prison Break came back with 600 000 less viewers, only 5.24 million viewers and 2.1 on the demo. On The CW it was still good for One Tree Hill, which still managed to keep 3.02 million viewers around and 1.7 on the demo.

At 10.00 NBC continued to win with 13.31 million viewers and 5.5 for SNL. On CBS CSI: Miami was down to a season low as well, down half a million viewers less and 12.67 million watching, and a 3.6 on the demo. Boston Legal came last with a new low as well, going below 8 million with only 7.22 million viewers and 2.1 on the demo.
