Monday’s Numbers [10.20.2008]

Last night we had a full Monday night on, with the return of the Fox series. Unfortunately for the net, they only managed to do better than The CW… Winner of the night was ABC thanks to Dancing With The Stars, while as usual CBS took the demo thanks notably to Two And A Half Men.
At 8.00 and despite a somewhat less funny than usual episode, How I Met Your Mother did pretty well, with 300 000 more viewers than last week. A nice bump up to 9.36 million viewers and 3.9 on the demo, while lead-out The Big Bang Theory was actually less watched than a week ago, with 9.23 million viewers and a 3.5 on the demo. Still nothing to worry of course, as the comedy duo still performs quite well and, if it wasn’t for Dancing With The Stars, would have won the demo for the slot quite easily.
Coming after was Chuck on NBC, with 6.70 million viewers and 2.5 on the demo — 700 000 more viewers than last episode. On Fox things weren’t as good, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles down 300 000 viewers with 5.34 million viewers - a season low - and 2.1 on the demo. Of course Fox already picked up the show for a full season, so now the only question is what are they waiting to move it ? I’m still thinking than on Wednesday with Bones as lead-in (averaging 9.7 million viewers and 3.2 on the demo this season, and leading out to Til Death with a very poor retention) the show would perform much better, and then moving Prison Break at 8.00 would also probably help the show too.
Anyways, closing the slot was Gossip Girl with 3.03 million viewers and 1.5 on the demo, that’s a season low for the series. Not sure what happened there, but it didn’t affected lead-out One Tree Hill, which had one of its best performances of the season with 3.65 million viewers and a 1.9 on the demo.
Also at 9.00 was Two And A Half Man, obvious winner of the demo (5.1), and which continues to lead into the failure that is Worst Week. While 9.90 million viewers and 3.2 might not sound bad, when your lead-in had 14.55 million viewers it suddenly does looks that impressive. Also, the show just sucks.
Samantha Who? isn’t really doing so well either, with 11.03 million viewers, which is only a 57% retention, and beaten by Worst Week on the demo (3.0 vs 3.2) On NBC, Heroes continues to go down, not even reaching 8.5 million viewers (8.46 million) and getting a season low on the demo while for the first time not getting a 4.0 — only a 3.9
Meanwhile Prison Break was back and with it 400 000 more viewers than for last episode : 5.84 million viewers and a 2.3 on the demo.
At 10.00 CSI: Miami was a clear winner with 13.25 million viewers and a 3.8 on the demo, while Boston Legal got much closer to 9 million viewers, with about 900 000 more viewers and 8.96 million viewers watching. Yet the show was last on the demo, beaten by My Own Worst Enemy (2.4 vs 2.5) on NBC, with only 5.72 million viewers, down 1.6 million viewers from its pilot last week. Not good, and not surprising.
