Monday’s Numbers [09.13.2008]

By fred | October 14, 2008

NumbersLast night ABC could still count on Dancing With The Stars to be the most-watched program of the night and make the Alphabet the winning network in total viewers (13.51 million), while on The Eye Two And A Half Men won the demo and made CBS winner of the night with 4.0

At 8.00 on CBS things were relatively consistent, The Big Bang Theory managing once again to have more viewers than its lead-out (9.36 million vs 9.14 million) while How I Met Your Mother, while down from last week’s 4.0, performed better on the demo (3.8 vs 3.6) Unfortunately, winner of the slot was Dancing With The Stars with a 3.9

On NBC Chuck was doing a little better, back to reaching 6 million viewers. Meanwhile on The CW Gossip Girl was back after two weeks, and slightly down with 3.34 million viewers and 1.6 on the demo, still very satisfying results.

At 9.00 Two And A Half Men was up 700 000 viewers, with 14.57 million viewers and a 5.3 on the demo (a season high, same as the season premiere). Out of that and helped by the fact that Dancing With The Stars ended half an hour earlier, Worst Week went up one million viewers, 9.78 million viewers and 3.3 on the demo. The show performed better than Samantha Who? season premiere on the demo (3.3 vs 3.1) but the later had almost 2 million more viewers (11.70 million)

On NBC Heroes was up, winning 400 000 viewers since last week. Of course, they were about 2.7 million more last year, and the show was still below 9 million viewers with only 8.63 million of them watching.

On The CW it was about the same as last episode for One Tree Hill, except since its lead-in didn’t perform as well this made for the first time One Tree Hill actually performed better than Gossip Girl, both in viewers (3.43 million) as well as on the demo (1.7)

At 10.00 CSI: Miami lost 600 000 viewers but remained pretty stable on the demo, and still a large winner of the slot with 13.00 million viewers and 3.9 Second came Boston Legal with 8.12 million viewers, season-low for the show and first time it didn’t reach 9 million viewers, while the series premiere of My Own Worst Enemy on NBC wasn’t really a success.

The show came last in viewers with only 7.30 million viewers, though it did better than ABC legal drama on the demo (3.0 vs 2.1) Last year’s occupant Journeyman premiered with 2.2 million more viewers, though it should be noted that by then Heroes had 14 million viewers. Two years ago, Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip premiered with 13.4 million viewers, yet neither it nor Journeyman got renewed.

Also not a good sign is how 690 000 viewers left NBC for the second half-hour of the episode. And judging by the episode itself, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the show go down quite a bit next week…
