Friday’s Numbers [10.17.2008]

Last night was the big premiere for NBC’s attempt at copying Lost or something with their new series, Crusoe. Over here, the show is still sitting on my DVR, which shows how excited I am about the show so far… I don’t know if the show is any good, but it didn’t had a really good start.
At 8.00 Ghost Whisperer was a little down, with half a million less viewers than last week. Nothing to worry for Jennifer Love Hewitt and her ghosts though, the show was still the most-watched of the night, both in viewers (8.87 million) and on the demo (2.5) The series premiere of Crusoe on NBC opened with 6.74 million viewers and a low 1.5 on the demo.
The “good news” for Crusoe is that it was stronger in the second hour, and with 7.73 million viewers it was the winner of the slot at 9.00 Of course the bad news is that is was really not doing well on the demo, which is what NBC might be most interested in. At 8.00 Ghost Whisperer on CBS and Wife Swap on ABC beat Crusoe on the demo, and at 9.00 the show was beaten by The Ex List on CBS and Supernanny on ABC.
Remember Las Vegas ? The show NBC canceled with as much disrespect as they always have for any show (and their cast, crew and fans) who’ve been serving them well for many years, or even Friday Night Lights ? Well, I’m sure NBC remembers them as well, given how both performed better…
The Ex List managed to go up this week, gaining 650 000 viewers since last week. At 10.00 Numb3rs was also up by about as many viewers, and continues to do better than its lead-in with 8.60 million viewers
On NBC it seems Life had a little boost from a better lead-in, though I’m not sure Crusoe and Life are really compatible. Anyways, good news as the show was up 1 million viewers with 5.93 million viewers (1.5 on the demo) Those numbers are still much lower than last season, but then again what would anyone expect from NBC messing with the show and sending it to Friday nights ?
