Army Wives are back !
By fred | June 10, 2008
Sunday night marked the return of Army Wives on Lifetime, and the second season premiere did do pretty well, setting a new series high with 4.5 million viewers ! The episode took over the network’s high, previously owned by The Division since February 2002 with 4 million viewers.
(It will be interesting to see how the second episode of USA’s In Plain Sight performed, airing at the same time, but I couldn’t find any numbers for it yet.)
This was a very strong return, and a success for Lifetime, who did do things right making sure people would be interested : on Saturday they aired reruns of no less than the last 10 episodes of the first season (eps. 4 to 13), giving a chance to new viewers to discover the show, as well as fans to dive back into it. They also made all 13 episodes of the first season available for free on their website (with ads), and the DVDs of the first season were out last week.
Now if only other networks would take a hint, because great freshmen - like the great NBC’s Life or ABC’s Pushing Daisies - could use a little help not to be forgotten. I mean, for some of those new series returning only next fall after being interrupted by the strike last year, it will be almost one year since the least episode aired !
