Winter Critics Poll 2007: Best & Worst

By fred | February 6, 2008

As always, critics are all voted for the to find out which were the best series and which were the worst of 2007. The Winter Critics Poll 2007 is over, and results are in.

Votes were tabulated using a weighted scale. Critics submitted 10 shows in the best series category, the top choice receiving 10 points, the second choice 9 points and so on down to the last (10th) choice, receiving 1 point.
In the worst series category, they only submitted five shows, the top (worst) choice descending from 5 points, the next from 4 points, and so on till the last one, descending from one point.

Selected shows were televised between July and December 2007.

And really, some critics are obviously out of their minds, or simply don’t know what good television is. I mean, how the fuck can Life be only #22 of the list of best shows ?? This show is freaking brilliant, from all sides, the acting, the writing, it’s all really amazing ! It’s the best show on TV, well, except it’s not on right now of course, but still.

Seriously, I don’t get it how this show could not be on the first place, because it really deserves it. And how could they put a piece of crap like Californication as high as #10 !?? Are they kidding me ?? Apart from the pilot which was actually good and funny, every episode sucked and it’s gotten worst each time, only to end with one of the lamest most stupid finale ever, which also made no sense at all. Again, WTF!?

The Office lost a few spots, but it still up there among the best on #8, along with Ugly Betty for some reason. Really, that thing ain’t funny, and it sure isn’t as good as The Office ! By the way, The Office lost its title of #1 comedy ! To who ? Wait, we’ll come to that…

The new season of House was enjoyed by critics, since the show got up to #7, one of its best score. Which is proving that critics aren’t that smart, I mean, it is one of the best show on television.

Obviously Heroes fall all the way down, yet still ended up somehow #25 on the list of best shows, while it should have been much higher on the list of worst shows !

I also want to mention the real good spot for FX awesome show, Damages, debuting as #6 best shows, no less! A well deserved spot.

And if lots of shows shouldn’t be there, a lot of (new) ones are missing too, like Journeyman for instance. Yes, it’s been canceled, yes, the show was highly flawed. It was still really well acted and had a quality above a lot of things on TV. And if I probably shouldn’t mention The Big Bang Theory, though it’s really funny, or Gossip Girl, what about How I Met Your Mother ? Not new, but really good nevertheless!

5. Friday Night Lights (NBC)

You know what, I never watched this show. I have no idea if it’s any good or not, if it should be up there or not, but something tells me it won’t stay here for long. That something is NBC’s Silverman, which kinda announced the show was probably going to be canceled next season…
