What’s up with Oceanic Airlines ?
By fred | December 31, 2007
I’m not sure what’s going on with Oceanic Airlines, the famous airline whose Flight 815 crashed on a mysterious island, leaving some survivors, or none, according to your sources.
A few days ago I reported about a new press release stating that the company was back in business ! It was a major event, as we all know the company cancel all its flights after the famous and mysterious crash. I also pointed out that the website – oceanic-air.com – was still announcing “All Flights Cancelled”
In fact, the new press release can be found at the new website – flyoceanicair.com – for Oceanic Airlines, but this time there no mention of the Flight 815 tragedy, unlike on the first website. Sure, they announce their “return to the airways“, but who knows…
Given how those are two official websites, there’s many possible reasons for such a thing, for example :
- They forgot they already had a website for Oceanic Arlines up,
- Whoever is in charge of maintaining promotional websites at ABC lost the passwords for the first website, so a new one has to be set up instead,
- This has a meaning in the Lost mythology. After all, Jack and Kate got out of the Island, and were back what should be sooner than April 2007, so even “returning” to business now doesn’t work. Maybe, this is a hint that there are alternate realities and that the timeline is different in each of those. Being external to the whole thing, we somehow manage to have access to two official websites from two different realities/timeline.
They also talk about “Many more years of unparalleled service“, but who knows what they really mean by “unparalleled service” ? After all, all locations mentioned in the press release do sound familiar, don’t they ?
- Los Angeles, CA is linked to Jack and Hurley
- Tustin, CA is linked to Locke
- Ames, IA is linked to Kate
- Miami, FL is linked to Juliet
- New York, NY is linked to Michael
- Portland, OR is linked to Ben
- Knoxville, TN is linked to Sawyer
- Seoul, South Korea is linked to Sun and Jin
- Sydney, Australia is linked to Claire
You know what they say about coincidence, right ? (that it’s “joincidence” with a “C” !)
Forced to admit that, despite my “dislike” for scheduling decisions made by ABC, I’m getting more & more excited about the return of Lost…
