What will you be watching on Tuesday nights ?
By fred | September 2, 2008
After a big Monday night and a couple of shows back, things are starting to feel less summer-ish already in TV land. Time to see what this fall’s Tuesdays will have to offer, with some pretty exciting new series, just as exciting returning ones, and some series we weren’t used to watch on Tuesday, but as long as they’re some day it’s all good!
First, a look at what’s to come…
* At 8.00 we will find the show that will save (or burry) The CW, maybe, the “new” 90210 premiering no sooner than tonight; We were used to bee America’s favorite doctor one hour later, but this season House has been separated from Bones, and it’s now coming in at 8.00 (hopefully that doesn’t mean anything content-wise) - starting September 16th - to be a great lead-in for J.J. Abrams latest creation… And of course, on CBS it’s still the good old NCIS, back on September 23rd
* At 9.00 it will be the most-awaited Fringe, and if the combo House-Fringe doesn’t put Fox way ahead of the competition especially on the demo, nothing will. Fringe makes its debut on September 9th at 8.00 with a two-hour series premiere; starting September 9th as well is another new series about spoiled rich kids on The CW, Privileged; it will also be the time where CBS hopes to have The Mentalist do well, starting September 23rd. Finally, if you don’t want to see rich teenage kids, or less of them, Greek is on ABC Family.
* At 10.00 Vic Mackey and his boys are back on FX, The Shield starting tonight; NBC have their good old Law & Order: SVU to take position September 23rd; to face that CBS put one of their good old hit-drama, Without A Trace, back on September 23rd as well; and in the middle of all those cops will be Eli Stone, on ABC, though not before October 14th
Then, what I’ll be watching…
On Tuesdays I’ll be missing Bones (even if it’s only for one day), which I always thought paired nicely with House, and I’ll be missing Reaper. I can’t believe we have to wait for 2009 to get to see new episodes of Reaper! Anyways, of course my Tuesday nights will open with House, that’s a given - and I can’t wait.
Also a given is Fringe. At some point I started to read people wondering whether or not the show would be (such) a hit, I guess it was mostly after the only “okay” reaction the pilot got at ComicCon, but that was all BS. I’m not worried myself, because sure it’s got flaws, like every other show, but it’s a great show, very well done, and it lives up to the hype. It’s a solid quality show, and as long as Fox doesn’t mess it up or cancel it after two weeks, there’s no reason for it not to be a hit.
That said, I’ll keep an eye on Privileged even though from what I’ve read/seen it looks like crap, I will also be watching The Mentalist to see if it gets better than its pilot or not, and to be complete I’ll keep watching Greek since I have from the series premiere last year, so, it only makes sense.
So far it’s pretty loaded, but then to make things easier at 10.00 I only have one show left : Eli Stone. It took a while for the show to find itself, in fact last season I was close to giving up at some point, but the show finally got (much) better and if that was any indication of things to come, we’re in for a really great season (even if Maggie isn’t dead)!
And finally, you!
That was my take, but what will you be watching on Tuesday nights ? Is Fringe already on your season pass list ? Will you bother with a new CBS procedural drama ? Let us know in the comments!
