Tim Kring is a funny guy, in a way
By fred | November 24, 2008
Remember a few days back, when Heroes creator Tim Kring called the millions of people watching his show live nothing but a bunch of “poor saps and dipshits“ ? Well, turns out people didn’t think it was “cute” or nothing like that, and now Kring is coming back with an apology.
After many complained about his insults and the bunch of non-sense he said, blaming the downfall of the show on DVRs and other recent technologies instead of, you know, crappy writing, Kring comes back to apologize.
“It was a boneheaded attempt at being cute and making a point. Instead, it turned out to be just plain insulting and stupid. I know now how it sounded, but I truly never meant to suggest anything bad about our audience.” said Kring in an open-letter to fans.
I, myself, have to admit, I found that whole incident hilarious. No really, forgetting about what’s actually going on here, how Kring blames DVRs where the real problem is obvious to anyone watching the show : that it sucks. What I myself find absolutely hilarious, is to see Kring show up and do something, here insult its audience, because he thinks that’s a pretty cool idea and what people what to hear.
And when it turns out that, of course, it was stupid at best, he shows up to apologize, explains how it was a mistake, shouldn’t have been done, how he sees this now and won’t do it again.
Sounds familiar?
That’s because he’s been doing so for years now : every year the new season of Heroes is worse than the last, people complain about how much it sucks, and Kring comes to apologize, explain that he realizes now how wrong they were, what horrible mistakes they did, but not to worry cause he’ll fix it, just hang on for the next season/volume, cause that one will be good…
Just made me laugh, it really did. I just wonder for how long people are gonna keep believing his “apologies”…

I was just reading up on this for a blog I was writing myself but I totally agree. I think the biggest flaw going is that Kring wont be a man and ever day that he meant to do something. I wouldnt mind the show sucking so much if he’d own it.
Yep, that’s why I gave up on the show. Well, because it sucks of course, but also because there’s this clear sense that no one behind the scenes has any vision for the show, knows what to do with those characters and where to go with it…
