This Is The End… Of The Strike ?
By fred | February 5, 2008
I recently reported that the strike might be over soon, though nothing was done yet. Well, this seems even more true now as two sources told Reuters Monday that both sides apparently came to an agreement to terms of a new contract, a contract that could be presented to union leaders in days and, if approved, end their 3-month-old strike later this week.
Nothing is done yet, but everyone seems to agree that the deadline to be able to save this season is February 15. Is the strike gets resolved before then, major series could go back into production and add four or five episodes to their currently halted season. Rumor has it that only returning series would be affected, as networks may not intend to put back in production any of their new series, even if they were picked up for a full season order.
But there could be some more House, Desperate Housewives or Grey’s Anatomy to come, and more importantly there may be hope after all for a 16-episodes season of Lost ! But don’t get your hopes high, not for now, because nothing is done.
That said, the deadline is coming, the deadline for movies isn’t that far away either, early March is seen as the last chance for avoiding major disruptions to the 2009 release schedule. Add to that the Academy Awards still planned for February 24, one at least one thing seems for sure : it’s now or never.
