The Office: What did everyone do during summer?
By fred | August 30, 2007
I usually try to stay away from spoilers for shows that I watch, and really care about. This isn’t always very easy though, not so much because you have to resist while you are dying to know what’s gonna happen next. I can do that pretty good, as I believe knowing what’s gonna happen before I watch new episodes kinda ruins the fun and lower the level of excitement and surprise you get from experiencing it with a fresh, “clear” mind from any spoiler.
The problem lies more when reading articles that are titled like “Nuclear Bomb To Go Off Within First Four Episodes Of New Season Of 24″ ! I wish everyone would keep their lead-in or introductions as spoiler-free as possible, but FFS people keep your titles spoiler free at the very least! There’s nothing I hate more than having a show “partially ruined” because I read a headline that revealed too much.
Oh by the way, if you haven’t watched the season six of 24 yet, there was a huge spoiler in that title I used as example above. Although to be honest, if you haven’t watched Jack Bauer’s day 6, don’t bother : you’re lucky you avoided the worst season of the show ever, keep it that way.
But back on topic, The Office. (still spoiler free)
I really love that show, everyone is amazing, it is hilarious, and - as you know yourself if you watch(ed) it - highly addictive. If all you know for season 4 of the show is what was revealed, or hinted at, during last season and you wish it to stay that way, you might want to stop here.
If you know already, or are too weak to resist the call from Michael Scott, Dwight, Jim, Pam and all the others… NBC released this teaser for next season, and it is simply genius. This is a little video, classic The Office-style, where everyone will tell us what they did during the summer. Quite a few things are revealed, everyone one of them is freaking amazing!!
How awesome was that? It’s like nothing changed, everyone is exactly as we could have expected them to be, true to themselves. With a couple of exceptions, starting with a shinning Pam! She looks great, finally let her hair down, she looks much more happy than ever, bug smile on her face and bright colors on her… I can’t wait to see the new Pam in action!
The other one is, of course, Ryan. It did happen, really, as confirmed by Dunder Mifflin official press release. This is great, not only because it’s always challenging and exciting to see a show evolve and have its stories & characters move it and grow, but that can only be the start of a new dynamic between Ryan and his self-described “mentor, guardian, and best friend”, Michael Scott, that I just can’t wait to witness.
Everyone had a great summer, or report of it, and I’ll let you go over them and watch the video over and over again until September 27, when the show returns on NBC at 9pm, in extended one-hour long format.
