The Office keeps Holly Flax in !

By fred | June 30, 2008

The OfficeGood news for all Office fans around : by the end of last season, and the departure of Toby, we all had a nice unexpected surprise in finding who his replacement was : Holly Flax (Amy Ryan). At first hated by Michael because she was the “new Toby”, and therefore as anyone from human resources had to be some kind of hateful, evil monster, she turned out to be a really nice woman, who likes Michael and is still convinced that Kevin is “slow”, and I sure hope that stays on for some time.

Anyways, introduced as a nice new character and a potential love interest for Michael – and here’s to hoping that crap about his child that isn’t really his child at all in way actually won’t become too much of a mess – The Wire star Amy Ryan will return to the hit-comedy next season !

Yes, it’s been announced that Ryan was set to appear in at least five more episodes, which also means there’s a possibility she might sign for more if things work out well. Commenting on the news, here’s what Ryan had to say : “I don’t know what they’re going to do with the character but as it was written, there’s certainly a lot of potential. It’s a funny thing to enter a show that you’re a great fan of – and it’s nice to tell lighter stories. I love the dark, grittier side of life, but it’s nice to take a break from that, put a skirt on and brush your hair.

Paul Lieberstein, who plays Toby and also writes/exec produces on the show, said that “Amy gave the character of Holly an openness and matured innocence that exposed a new side of Michael. She placed her character right on his level.

I really liked her during the season finale, and I’m really happy to know we’ll see more of her. And then again, if things work out for the best I’m sure she could become a recurring character, or even a series regular ! Wouldn’t that be be cool ?
