The Good, The Bad And The Ugly… This Season For The CW
By fred | June 20, 2008
(This week we look back at how each of the main networks handled things this past season, as well as looking at how things are looking up for the coming one. Agree ? Disagree ? Share your thoughts and grade networks in the comments below…)
The Good
They do have a few good shows, really good shows in fact. Despite not pulling out amazing ratings, Gossip Girl has a generated a lot of buzz (see Teen Choice Awards), so much many are convinced it’s a real hit, and that’s okay because the show is actually good. And of course, the best of The CW comes from the dark side, say hello to Supernatural and Reaper, both renewed!
The Bad
Took them long enough! Reaper was the best of their new series, and they barely renewed it, and only for mid-season! Are you kidding me ? Also, why did they always insist, even during the writers’ strike while many days were completely filled with nothing but reruns, why did they always had to air Supernatural right when ABC aired new episodes of Lost ? Maybe, just maybe, airing it while there was nothing else on might have helped… of course, you need to actually want a bigger audience for the show…
The Ugly
Someone please put The Stride Gum Show Smallville out of its misery. It’s been a while now that the show should have ended, and now it’s just sad, really. Renewing it with yet another season, even if pretty much everybody left, clearly they’re desperate.
The Future
Sending Reaper back to midseason and with the addition of a new 90210 and Surviving The Filthy Rich, welcome to the Gossip Girl network. And if the show is good, this doesn’t look so good… And maybe it’s because I didn’t watch the first 90210, but I couldn’t be less excited about this, even ABC’s schedule for next season looks a lot more fresh than this one to me, and they (pretty much) don’t have anything new on!
