The Good, The Bad And The Ugly… This Season For CBS

By fred | June 17, 2008

CBS(This week we look back at how each of the main networks handled things this past season, as well as looking at how things are looking up for the coming one. Agree ? Disagree ? Share your thoughts and grade networks in the comments below…)

The Good

… I’m looking … if you have anything, let me know … Alright, that’s unfair. After all, The Big Bang Theory was a very nice surprise this season, so not only bringing it on but giving it a real chance and - of course - renewing it for a second season was probably CBS’ highlight this season.

The Bad

Well, here’s a few names for you of shows that were either too bad and shouldn’t have made it so far, or were good and deserved more / a fair chance : Cane, Kid Nation, Moonlight, Welcome To The Captain, Jericho, Viva Laughlin

And really, it’s only because I have something else in mind for the Ugly part that I put Jericho here, because bringing back the show only to put it in a death slot pretty much ensuring that it wouldn’t do well and have a chance at a third season (which of course was forgetting about only “little” detail, the Jericho Rangers!), was a really ugly move from CBS, at best.

The Ugly

Britney Spears. CBS is lucky enough to have one of the greatest sitcom on their schedule, and that is how they deal with it and treat the fans ? How I Met Your Mother is nothing but awesome, it’s brilliant and filled with creativity like you hardly see on television, it’s the Lost of comedy, it’s The Barney Show FFS! But no, they needed to get Britney on, not once, but twice, to make sure she completely ruined everything, so that they could renew the show… I feel like killing some people.

The Future

So far, except for The Mentalist I don’t think they have anything that looks really good, or even new really. And even The Mentalist isn’t there, it just doesn’t look too bad, from the very little I’ve seen of it. CBS might have new series on their schedule for next season, it doesn’t look any more exciting than ABC’s…
