The Ex List lost its creator/showrunner

And the epidemic continues…
It’s nothing new that for one reason or another, many shows see their creators/showrunners/executive producers leave. Most of the times, it comes from some kind of “disagreement” between creative minds behind the show and networks.
Latest in date comes from CBS. After trashing Moonlight and replacing it with new series The Ex List, it seems CBS is determined not to change the way they work things, and they want to make the show what they think it should be, because they know better… of course. And so Friday morning, as filming for episode seven started, Diane Ruggiero, creator/executive producer of The Ex List, has departed the new CBS drama.
Not that I care much, cause I’m not sure I would like the show - but that’s not based on much as I have yet to see the pilot - but it’s always a bad sign when this happens, and whether you watch/like a show or not, this shouldn’t happen.
While CBS and 20th TV (producer of the show) are said to be surprised from this decision, and released in a joint statement supporting Ruggiero and ensuring that there would be no disruption in production and the show wouldn’t be affected, rumor is that Ruggiero left because she and the network couldn’t agree on the show’s direction : CBS wanted a more “faithful” adaptation of the original format, while Ruggiero was looking for a more original take.
Diane is a gifted writer and developed a wonderful series. We are sorry that she has decided to leave the show but have tremendous confidence in Rick Eid and his strong team which includes Segahl Avin, the creator of the original Israeli format who will continue to be a consultant. We expect no disruption in production and remain excited about the upcoming premiere of The Ex-List on CBS.
Based on an Israeli format (Mythological X), the show stars Elizabeth Reaser (Grey’s Anatomy) as a woman who, after learning from a psychic that she already has dated the man she’s supposed to marry, revisits all her past relationships.
The series premiere Friday, October 3rd at 9.00 on CBS.

And…you believe them? Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t believe anything any of them say anymore.

CBS isn’t interested in original. End of discussion. - Ok, admittedly, as a Moonlight and Jericho fan, I’m somewhat bitter …

…dumb idea, but maybe CBS should consider doing something like that….
