The Death Of Canterbury’s Law and Bionic Woman…

By fred | March 20, 2008

Canterbury’s Law* Canterbury’s Law is pretty much dead. The show hasn’t performed good once, and was a complete failure on the demo. Yet in a surprising move Fox did not just took it off the air, but it’s clear that they don’t have much faith.

Next Monday at 8.00 New Amsterdam will have a much better lead-in : a rerun of House. Sure, it’s a rerun, but the cranky doctor always performs well, including in the demo, even in rerun. At least he does, comparing to Canterbury’s Law numbers. This might be a nice opportunity for New Amsterdam to grow its audience, but they really need fix the writing for that to happen.

Anyways, the next episode of Canterbury’s Law will air in place of House reruns, on Fridays at 9.00, starting April 28.

* Meanwhile NBC still refuses to officially announce that Bionic Woman is dead. But DVDs are out, and if they may have considered adding a few episodes to this season, I really doubt they’d be as stupid as to renew it for another season. In the mean time, one could argue that only “Volume One” is out on DVD…

Bionic WomanAnyways, executive producer David Eick basically told Sci Fi Wire that the show was indeed over, explaining that it didn’t work and that “at a certain point, when it becomes that frustrating, I think you’re better off to say, “Let’s try again another time,” and let it go.

Although Eick is obviously still not willing to face the entire truth. Granted, he admitted that “some of the writing was good“, implying that some was not. He should add that it was a 95/5 with 95% of bad writing. And to say that “the actress (Michelle Ryan) we found was wonderful” is probably nice for her, but complete crap. She was awful, truly awful. In fact, having casted Katee Sackhoff instead of Ryan as lead might have improved the show a lot!
