The CW Schedule for 2009

By fred | May 14, 2008

The new schedule for The CW is now official, and there’s not a lot to be happy about, really. President of Entertainment for The CW Dawn Ostroff commented it saying: “With shows that everyone is talking about, from Gossip Girl and America’s Next Top Model to our upcoming 90210, our new lineup has the best Monday-Friday schedule flow we have ever had at The CW.

Right, sure. I guess someone should really take the time to let Ostroff know that having shows most people talk about doesn’t mean shit, just go ask NBC about Bionic Woman, most talked about show last season, incredible buzz, total crap and complete failure. The CW is not one of the big boys, and instead of trying to do whatever it is they do, they should try to please their viewers and bring them quality content for a chance…

More

What else to say, I am happy that they eventually did renew Reaper for a second season, but it’s a stupid decision to only get it back with a 13-episode order for midseason. This is one of their best shows, and that’s how they deal with it ? Okay so maybe it doesn’t attract their female audience as much as Gossip Girl, so what? Get it back for a full season order, pack it with Supernatural - another great show, dealing with demons, filled with humors and that may not talk to the female audience as much as GG. Get yourself a strong sci-fi night already!

Anyways, in other news it was recently reported that Alyson Mack might not head back to Smallville for the eighth and final season, and it seems more & more likely that this will be the case ! Apparently her exit will even be explained in the upcoming season finale, leaving the show to enter its final season with pretty much no one but Clark from the original cast, and only Lois & Clark to make the show…

Also, not to get fans of Moonlight hopes too soon, but while CBS did cancel their favorite show, it seems that it could come back… to The CW! As you may have heard already, The CW is completely giving up on Sunday nights, in fact they have sold those out, and Media Rights Capital - which will be programming Sunday’s two hours on The CW - could be interested in putting Moonlight in one of those, according to Nikki Finke.

Apparently “there is a chance, only a chance” for the show to come back. WB had already ordered to tear down the sets of the show, but are now putting this on hold and will wait until Friday, leaving a chance to Media Rights Capital to get the show back to life !

I’m sure all fans of the show would love nothing more, and it would make sense given how during its CBS days, the show had twice what most talked about CW show Gossip Girl ever did, and I’m sure all fans wouldn’t mind switching to The CW if that’s all it takes to keep their show on the air. How funny would that be, to see that the most watched program on The CW would become Moonlight on Sundays, and not even come from The CW itself. I would love it, and I don’t even watch Moonlight (maybe I should start now?) !

Don’t get your hopes too high though, and stay tuned.
