The 65th Annual Golden Globes - Results

By fred | January 14, 2008

Best Actor - Drama

- Jon Hamm - Mad Men
- Hugh Laurie - House
- Jonathan Rhys-Myers - The Tudors
- Bill Paxton - Big Love
- Michael C. Hall - Dexter

Seriously, I’m a little pissed. I wanted Hugh Laurie to win, because he’s freaking amazing. I guess I could have been ok with Michael C. Hall because he’s the only good thing in Dexter, but here I’m pissed a little…

Best Actress - Drama

- Edie Falco - The Sopranos
- Holly Hunter - Saving Grace
- Glenn Close - Damages
- Sally Field - Brothers & Sisters
- Kyra Sedgwick - The Closer
- Minnie Driver - The Riches
- Patricia Arquette - Medium

Yes! A least they got this one right! Glenn Close was great, the show was awesome, now that’s something to be happy about.

On a side note, let me repeat that I’d have loved to see Sarah Shahi nominated, not just because I love Life, but mostly because she is doing an wonderful job, and I’m having (or used to have) a great time watching her performance…

Best Actor - Comedy or Musical

- Alec Baldwin - 30 Rock
- David Duchovny - Californication
- Steve Carell - The Office
- Ricky Gervais - Extras
- Lee Pace - Pushing Daisies

What! The! Fuck!??

Ok, this has to be some kind of mistake, an error, I demand a recount ! Who the fuck voted for Duchovny ?? More importantly, why ? I mean, sure, the guy did a nice job playing a prick and no, he wasn’t nothing like Fox Mulder, still that’s not enough.

Most of all, that’s nothing compared to the fantastic performance Alec Baldwin keeps delivering episodes after episodes on 30 Rock !! Don’t they watch 30 Rock ?? Jesus Christ, who let those people vote if they don’t watch 30 Rock ??!

Best Actress - Comedy or Musical

- Christina Applegate - Samantha Who?
- America Ferrera - Ugly Betty
- Tina Fey - 30 Rock
- Anna Friel - Pushing Daisies
- Mary Louise-Parker - Weeds

Okay, so I guess some of them do watch the show. Unless they voted only based on her SNL fame and Emmy recognition. That must be it, because you can’t watch the show and not acknowledge that it’s hilarious, and that Baldwin is great, you just can’t.

But with that said, I’m really happy Tina Fey won, of course.

Best Actor In A Supporting Role in a Series/Miniseries/TV Movie

- Ted Danson - Damages
- Kevin Dillon - Entourage
- Jeremy Piven - Entourage
- Andy Serkis - Longford
- William Shatner - Boston Legal
- Donald Sutherland - Dirty Sexy Money

I’m sure people will be pissed at that one. I’m okay with it, cause I still love Piven’s performance and Ari makes me laugh, yes he still does, but I’m sure people will be pissed. And quite frankly, Ted Danson probably deserved it more, but I’m not sure the HFPA really watches the shows they have to vote for…

Best Actress In A Supporting Role in a Series/Miniseries/TV Movie

- Rose Byrne - Damages
- Katherine Heigl - Grey’s Anatomy
- Rachel Griffiths - Brothers & Sisters
- Samantha Morton - Longford
- Anna Paquin - Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee
- Jaime Pressly - My Name Is Earl

No, I haven’t watched Longford. But I did watched Damages, and Rose Byrne was really great. It was a real pleasure to see her character starting all so fresh and naive and transforming before our eyes into a manipulative mastermind, she was brilliant. She should have won.
