The 60th Emmy Winners

By fred | September 22, 2008

EmmyAlright, so time to talk about the Emmy and who actually won I guess.

But first off, if you missed it or just because it’s so great you can never have enough of it, make sure to watch (again) Ricky Gervais & Steve Carell at the Emmys.

Right then, so let’s not waste any time and dive into it (in italic were my own votes, in bold are the winners) :

Best Drama

Boston Legal
Damages
Dexter
House
Lost
Mad Men

No real surprise here, we all knew Lost deserved to win (especially with The Constant), but critics love to think they’re so cool and give everything to Mad Men… the really good show for smart people. Not to say it ain’t good, but Lost is better, hands down.

Best Comedy

30 Rock
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Entourage
The Office
Two And A Half Men

That one was a given, despite The Office being still awesome. I just wish they would finally nominate How I Met Your Mother, since it does deserve the Emmy.

Best Drama Actor

Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad)
Gabriel Byrne (In Treatment)
Hugh Laurie (House)
James Spader (Boston Legal)
Jon Hamm (Mad Men)
Michael C. Hall (Dexter)

This one was a surprise, and a very good one. It’s still a shame Hugh Laurie didn’t win, because the guy is more than brilliant and definitely deserves it, but Bryan Cranston was also absolutely terrific in Breaking Bad, a really good show, and I’m just really happy about that one!

Best Drama Actress

Glenn Close (Damages)
Holly Hunter (Saving Grace)
Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer)
Mariska Hargitay (Law & Order: SVU)
Sally Field (Brothers & Sisters)

So glad they got this one right.
