The 35th Annual People’s Choice Awards Nominees
By fred | November 10, 2008
The 35th Annual People’s Choice Awards Nominees have been announced, and for the most part there’s really not much to say, except that sometimes it feels even more wrong than the Emmys, which is saying a lot considering. Favorite dramas only include the major hits (CSI, Grey’s Anatomy, House) completely missing even the fantastic Lost and its mind-blowing season, not nominated at all.
Just like for comedies are missing the most hilarious sitcoms on the air — that’s right, no mention of 30 Rock, The Office or How I Met Your Mother ! How is that even possible ??
Some categories you wonder who picked the nominees (Christina Applegate, Sally Field and Mariska Hargitay for Favorite Female TV Star, really??), and others have been filled with every possible choice (Favorite New TV Drama & Favorite New TV Comedy) as to not offend anyone, plus have something to put there…
I mean, what you would do with Favorite New TV Comedy ? Gary Unmarried, Kath & Kim, Valentine and Worst Week… might as well drop that category altogether! Looking at those nominations, it’s pretty sad, really.
And yet, something amazing happened : Supernatural got nominated !! No for real, the best show on The CW - and one of the best show on TV right now, really - as finally been noticed, for Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show. I guess it’s time for all fans of the show to get their voices heard, because Heroes has been crap for a couple of years now, and while Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles surely is a great show, I think it’s about time Supernatural get some love !
Following are the TV categories, in bold my votes :
Favorite TV Drama
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
Grey’s Anatomy
House
I get it that most people don’t care for Mad Men, but come on, how about the awesome Life ? Or Lost and its best season to date ?
Favorite TV Comedy
Samantha Who?
Two And A Half Men
Ugly Betty
Right, how about something actually funny?
Favorite Animated Comedy
Family Guy
The Simpsons
South Park
South Park is still the best, though The Life & Times Of Tim should have been up there instead of the now rarely funny The Simpsons…
Favorite Sci-Fi / Fantasy Show
Heroes
Supernatural
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
Supernatural!! I know Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is great, too, but Hell Supernatural has been around for years and people need to know how awesome it is!

Favorite New TV Drama

Eleventh Hour
Fringe
Knight Rider
Life On Mars
The Mentalist
My Own Worst Enemy
Privileged
Many are crap and can be/have been forgotten already. I hesitated between Fringe and The Mentalist, and Life On Mars a little as well. But the later is too much of a cop procedural, so the real fight was between Fringe and The Mentalist, and Fringe only won because it has potential to become great, as in all honesty it hasn’t reached that level yet, and so far The Mentalist might be better in fact…
Favorite New TV Comedy
Gary Unmarried
Kath & Kim
Valentine
Worst Week
This is just sad…
Alright, the show will air January 9th at 9.00 on CBS – in the mean time, go vote for Supernatural now!
