The 34th Annual Saturn Awards: Winners
By fred | June 25, 2008
Back in February the nominees were announced, and Lost was leading nominations receiving no less than 8 nominations. The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films made the winner known, and the ABC hit-drama is now leading again, taking home half of those awards, including the much-deserved Best Network Television Series award. And other than the award for Best Actress on Television, I’m pretty happy with the results.
Here’s how it goes (in italic my votes back from February 21st, in bold the winners) :
Best Network Television Series
Heroes
Journeyman
Lost
Pushing Daisies
Supernatural
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
Nothing to say here, this was a clear winner from the start I think.
Best Syndicated/Cable Television Series
Battlestar Galactica
The Closer
Dexter
Kyle XY
Stargate SG-1
Saving Grace
I don’t get it. Granted, I don’t watch most of these shows, but Dexter, really? I tried, and I never understood all the hype for this show, because I think it really sucks…
Best Actor
Matt Dallas, Kyle XY
Matthew Fox, Lost
Michael C. Hall, Dexter
Kevin McKidd, Journeyman
Edward James Olmos, Battlestar Galactica
Lee Pace, Pushing Daisies
This one could have gone to Michael C. Hall I’d have understood, but Matthew Fox did deserve it.
Best Actress
Anna Friel, Pushing Daisies
Lena Headey, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ghost Whisperer
Holly Hunter, Saving Grace
Evangeline Lilly, Lost
Kyra Sedgwick, The Closer
I was rooting for Evangeline, who has done quite a great job this season. I would have been fine with Anna Friel winning. Somehow, Jennifer Love Hewitt, I don’t really agree there… I’m not saying her cleavage isn’t awesome, but that’s not what the award is for, is it?
Best Supporting Actor
Michael Emerson, Lost
Greg Grunberg, Heroes
Josh Holloway, Lost
Erik King, Dexter
Terry O’Quinn, Lost
Masi Oka, Heroes
This is the most obvious thing ever, the guy has been nothing less than freaking amazing!! Give him an Emmy, FFS!
Best Supporting Actress
Jaime Alexander, Kyle XY
Jennifer Carpenter, Dexter
Summer Glau, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
Elizabeth Mitchell, Lost
Jaime Murray, Dexter
Hayden Panettiere, Heroes
I voted for Elizabeth Mitchell, though I really liked what Summer Glau did on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, so that tie makes sense.
Best Presentation on Television
Battlestar Galactica: Razor
The Company
Fallen
Family Guy: “Blue Harvest”
Masters of Science Fiction
Shrek the Halls
Tin Man
Best Television Series on DVD
Eureka (Season One)
Heroes (Season One)
Hustle (Complete Seasons Two and Three)
Lost (The Complete Third Season)
MI-5 (Volumes Four and Five)
Planet Earth (The Complete BBC Series)
