Supernatural losing his path?

Even since it was announced that there would be additions to the cast of Supernatural, that not one but two female characters would be added, a large majority of fans have been really worrying.
And that is understandable, since the show has never been a typical “teen show”, but actually a pretty good show that, despite a sense of humor, usually deals with dark stories. Adding two sexy girls might be seen as nothing but a way to “sex things up” in a lame network attempt to attract new viewers, with a major side effect of deflating the seriousness of the story.
Until now Supernatural creator Eric Kripke was not making any comments, but he recently broke his radio silent, trying to reensure fans that the show’s tone would not be affected to the latest additions to the cast :
“Ruby and Bela, each in their own unique way, are dangerous, ruthless, more bad than good; and they’ll each prove big trouble for Sam and Dean. We were excited to find both Katie and Lauren; they just popped off the screen for us, and they bring charisma and intelligence to their roles.“, Kripke told TV Guide.
Well, I don’t know if this will be any comfort to the fans, because the words Kripke used here are somewhat different than the ones used earlier for the casting calls, which sounded like a mean to “beautify” the show, describing the girls as “beautiful, funny and confident mercenary who lacks a conscience” for Bela, portrayed by Lauren Cohen, and “sexy, brutal and ruthless” for Ruby, portrayed by Katie Cassidy.
There might be “mercenary” and “ruthless” in there, but in all honesty these cast additions really look like nothing more than a way to attract new viewers to the show by that old retarded way of adding young hotties to the cast. A move that network always like, never mind that it can hurt the actual show and disfigured the whole thing.
Another worries is that they simply add new characters along the two brothers, and maybe even try to positioned them as love interest. For instance, there has been rumors that Bela could be a potential love interest for Dean.
We can only hope that writers will surprise us and prove us wrong, despite appearances. That they don’t try to “sex things up”, but that they do shake things up. Maybe it’ll work, maybe it will be a disaster.
And let’s be reassured by the fact that The CW has not announced a specific commitment for the characters, it’s not been said that the girls would appear on every episodes of the season, so if the fans reaction was really bad those open ended contracts might give the writers an option of writing them out.
