Showrunners come and go…

Lots of move behind the scenes of quite a lot of shows these days…
* First Josh Reims left ABC new drama Dirty Sexy Money and was replaced by Daniel Cerone. This was a planned move, and don’t expect any major change initiated from Cerone. “Since the pilot, I felt like the show had some of the best potential for storytelling and exploration of characters both on the light and the dark side. (..) It’s more about keeping all the best elements and adding as much intrigue, drama and danger as we possibly can.”
Cerone, who was co-executive producer on Dexter, won’t be alone to try to turn the show into a really good show - not that it’s bad, but I always felt like it’s missing something to really be good - as he’ll be working with creator Craig Wright (Lost), Greg Berlanti (Brothers & Sisters), Matthew Gross and Bryan Singer (House).
Dirty Sexy Money won’t be coming back this season, but ABC already ordered 13 episodes for a second season.
* Still on ABC, Mark Perry is leaving Brothers & Sisters. After joining the show during its second season, after executive producer Greg Berlanti left. Berlanti had already replaced creator Jon Robin Baitz, who had basically been put away by the network. Needless to say, there seems to be a real mess behind the scenes of this show.
Last time I heard such mess behind a show it was called Bionic Woman…
* Last week creators and executive producers of the ABC drama Women’s Murder Club, Sarah Fain and Elizabeth Craft, were replaced by Robert Nathan. The two writers didn’t stay out of a job for a long time, though. As soon as he heard they were available, Buffy’s Joss Whedon rushed to the phone to call them (or to the computer, to email them, same difference) and offer them a job on his latest project, a new series called Dollhouse, developed for Fox, which will star Buffy’s other slayer Eliza Dushku.
Eliza Dushku, working under her development deal with Fox and who will also be a producer on the show, is the one who “recruited” Whedon so the two of them would work together again. “Joss has been my favorite friend, genius, ally and confidant in the business since I was 17. It’s incredible how much energy and excitement I have for this; I can’t wait to be this Echo character.”
She will be the main character on the show, called Echo, member of a group of men and women who are imprinted with different personalities for different assignments. In between tasks they are mind-wiped, living like children in Dollhouse, a futuristic dorm/lab. They have no memories of their previous lives, until Echo begins to try to find out who she was…
