Scrubs needs YOUR help to have a series finale !
By fred | February 7, 2008
As you may know already, Scrubs does not have a series finale, since its current (and final) season couldn’t be completed before the strike.
There is a total of 10 episodes that have been completed before the strike, but more were planned, and those 10 episodes do not end the show. They don’t, because creator Bill Lawrence did not want to alter his vision of how the series should end just to please the network & studio, and write a finale much sooner than it was planned.
But what will happen, then ? Is there going to be any real ending, will a series finale be done, and if so, where will we be able to see it ? In short, Lawrence and everyone working on the show wants to do a good ending, and they want it to air on NBC as it should, but they need your help to make it happen!
Michael Ausiello interviewed Lawrence recently, and they talked about the future of the show, and how it could, or would, end. Go ahead and read, there’s no spoiler at all:
Where do things stand on doing a series finale ?
It’s tough for me to say because I can’t really get involved in that stuff until the strike ends. But either way, [NBC] is going to air the episodes we already shot.
And what about shooting new episodes ?
The worst-case scenario is that ABC/Disney [studio producing the show] lets me make the last four episodes as a DVD. And I say that’s the worst-case scenario because I’m going to try as hard as I can to get NBC’s support in finishing the show up on TV. I just don’t have any definitive answer because I haven’t been talking to them.
When the strike is over, what will your first order of business be ?
The second we’re told that we can go back to work, I’m going to give [Peacock honcho] Ben Silverman a call and say, “Scrubs has been on NBC for seven years, and it would really be a bummer if I didn’t get to end it there.” And I’m hoping I’ll get a positive response. I would be surprised if NBC didn’t want to figure out a way to end the series on their network.
How many additional episodes do you think you’d be able to shoot ?
Even though we were supposed to do seven more episodes, I’m sure I could finish the series in four or five. If somebody told me I’d get to do five more episodes on NBC and end the show in a normal way, I’d be superpsyched, considering all the stuff that has gone on.
What can the fans do ?
As long as they still have a desire to see the show, it would be a good thing for them to let NBC know.
You heard that? Scrubs needs our help, it needs YOU! Use the comments section below to send a clear message to NBC that anything less than a satisfying wrap-up to Scrubs‘ seven-year run will not be tolerated ! If NBC doesn’t want to lose us forever, they have to let Lawrence and his team end Scrubs the way the want, the way it should end. Don’t you want that ?

After seven years of neverending humor it would be a shame to not let the cast and crew finish what theyve started. For it’s viewers scrubs provides a great relief from the strains of everyday life. I personally would boycot any and all NBC shows in the future if it were to not air the final episodes of scrubs, and i can think of at least ten friends and family that feel the same. NBC would be making a very big mistake not airing one of the best shows ever created.
I agree with Derrick, and I personally think it would be downright disrespectful to not let this show finish its run with the creators intentions in mind. Is it really that damaging to the network to allow a 7 season loyal show to finish its story on the network that birthed it? I would avoid NBC if they don’t handle this appropriately.
Fans of the show would want a proper send off, and I think NBC should let the creators and staff involved film one and put it on for the fans to see. That’s what I think.
I WANT MORE SCRUBS!!!!!!!
Please let Scrubs finish what they started! I look forward to Scrubs every Thursday night and would be highly dissapointed if the show was not allowed to have a proper seaason finale. It would be a shame if NBC would not allow this for their fans.
I have been a loyal viewer of Scrubs for the past seven years. In a sea of reality crap, Scrubs truly shined. It’s so hard to find a show actually worth watching with an intelligent script to match. Please allow Scrubs to get a proper send off. They deserve it.
Scrubs deserves a proper ending. It would be a true disappointment if NBC did not allow it, and it would negatively affect my view towards the network.
Scrubs NEEDS to finish properly. I’ve bought every single DVD and watched every episode up to this point. Why stop a couple short? It doesn’t make sense. The show is of too high caliber to not give an ending the fans will appreciate.
Oh I’m with you guys. And even though there is no official statement out for now, here’s some news : according to Michael Ausiello things are looking good :
“A Scrubs insider tells me that it’s looking very good that NBC will give the show the proper send-off (i.e., several new episodes culminating with a series finale) it deserves. “The details are almost worked out,” whispers my source. Translation: Consider that bullet almost dodged.“
I have loved this show since I first seen one of the reruns on the Comedy Central marathons. I have since purchased every single season that has been released on DVD. I beg you NBC to let this show end right, or even better continue on for another 7 years! It has been well over 2 months and we are dying for a new epidose.
Scrubs has been one of the best shows on TV since Cheers.

If the guys at NBC have any appreciation for the balance in the Universe they’ll give me and all the other loyal fans a proper ending.
Please for the love of god and all that is holy and sacred, sacred heart being one of them, finish the series the way Bill wants and the way it’s supposed to be. “if I find a penny in there I’m taking you down.”

Ok if NBC is looking at these comments they should tell you that all of us want you to continue with scrubs, this is a very important matter to us, it entertains me and my dad when weve had a bad day, you must keep it running because we , the people, want it.
To whom it may concern,
I have grown up watching scrubs and would like to see a conclusive series finale. Every story needs an ending and only your network can provide it. Thank you for the time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Sean Condon
