Saturn Awards Nominations
By fred | February 21, 2008
Saturn Awards Nominations have been announced, and it looks like there’s a general feeling that they got things right, as Lost is leading nominations receiving no less than 8 nominations. Much deserved, given how this season is nothing less but amazing!
Let’s also mention a couple of nominations for NBC’s canceled-too-soon Journeyman, starting with one for Best Network TV Series, and no less than 3 nominations for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Doesn’t mean they got it all right though, because to give 5 nominations to Heroes sounds really wrong, to give it a nomination for Best Network TV Series is complete bullshit!
Winners will be announced on June 24. Below is the complete list of the TV nominations, with my votes in bold…
Best Network Television Series
Heroes
Journeyman
Lost
Pushing Daisies
Supernatural
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
Lost has to win, there’s no question. But pretty much all those nominations feel great : Journeyman, despite its many flaws, was a real nice show, Supernatural is really awesome, Pushing Daisies is a very sweet thing, and Terminator is a real fun hour of good entertainment every week. I just can’t understand Heroes, at that point why not Bionic Woman ? Really, this second season was that bad, it truly was.
Best Syndicated/Cable Television Series
Battlestar Galactica
The Closer
Dexter
Kyle XY
Stargate SG-1
Saving Grace
Okay, I won’t vote here as I don’t watch most of those shows. I feel Dexter will get much love, I still don’t get it because for what I saw it really sucks…
Best Actor
Matt Dallas, Kyle XY
Matthew Fox, Lost
Michael C. Hall, Dexter
Kevin McKidd, Journeyman
Edward James Olmos, Battlestar Galactica
Lee Pace, Pushing Daisies
Really, he’s doing a great job. For the record though, this is the only category where I can understand Dexter being nominated, even winning maybe, Michael C. Hall is doing a great job. Too bad he’s actually the only one on that show being given something good to do…
Best Actress
Anna Friel, Pushing Daisies
Lena Headey, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ghost Whisperer
Holly Hunter, Saving Grace
Evangeline Lilly, Lost
Kyra Sedgwick, The Closer
Yes, I’m totally into Lost lately. But I wouldn’t mind seeing Anna Friel winning this one.
Best Supporting Actor
Michael Emerson, Lost
Greg Grunberg, Heroes
Josh Holloway, Lost
Erik King, Dexter
Terry O’Quinn, Lost
Masi Oka, Heroes
This is no Lost-addiction or anything, Ben is a really creepy evil mastermind, and Emerson is doing a fantastic job! Others do one Hell of a job as well, but Ben is out winner here. Side note, Parkman is (one of) the lamest most stupid character on Heroes, really annoying, that alone should be enough to prevent anyone from voting for him… I’d say the same about Hiro though.
Best Supporting Actress
Jaime Alexander, Kyle XY
Jennifer Carpenter, Dexter
Summer Glau, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
Elizabeth Mitchell, Lost
Jaime Murray, Dexter
Hayden Panettiere, Heroes
Although I like what Summer Glau is doing, it’s hard to ignore how freaking amazing Lost is these days…
Best Presentation on Television
Battlestar Galactica: Razor
The Company
Fallen
Family Guy: “Blue Harvest”
Masters of Science Fiction
Shrek the Halls
Tin Man
Best International Series
Doctor Who
Torchwood
Meadowlands
Jekyll
Life On Mars
Robin Hood
Best Television Series on DVD
Eureka (Season One)
Heroes (Season One)
Hustle (Complete Seasons Two and Three)
Lost (The Complete Third Season)
MI-5 (Volumes Four and Five)
Planet Earth (The Complete BBC Series)
