Sarah Wayne Callies fired?!!
By fred | October 2, 2007
You know how we didn’t know what it was going to be : would she, or would she not come back to the show? Was Sarah Wayne Callies gonna be back or not, and as such, was Sara Tancredi going to be saved, or was she going to be killed.
Well, there seem to be some major reveals coming out of an interview Callies recently did in Canada for french magazine, Tele Star.
First off: I still haven’t watched the last episode (S03E03) so I can’t comment on whatever happened then relating to her fate, if anything.
Then, I had this theory that this whole thing might be some kind of publicity move. Not at first, at first there were probably some contract negotiations, but I thought that maybe, at some point, they came to an agreement (or not), but decided not to go public with it.
Why ? To keep the suspense on the show. Because saying she was back, you knew Sara wouldn’t be killed. Saying she was not coming back, you knew she would be killed. So pretty much saying anything was a major spoiler for the season to come.
So I thought, maybe they’re playing us, by refusing to comment and confirm or deny anything. Maybe they do not want us to know, because they do not want to reveal anything that’s going to happen on the show.
Apparently, I was wrong. If we are to believe a recent interview Sarah Wayne Callies did for french TV magazine Tele Star, she was fired.
In this interview, Callies not only told she “didn’t have the choice” to leave the show, but she did not wanted to. She wanted back in, and “at the end of season 2 last year. I was sure I’d continue“.
But producers decided differently.
Or so she claims. Because to be honest, this seems very odd (yet again). If she wanted back, but producers did not, I would tend to think they would have work out a better end. You know, one that would have not made use of a body double, but Callies herself, even for only a couple of episodes.
Hell, even Criminal Minds managed to work something out!
Leaving fans with such poor resolution, not only because they use a body double, but also to not have anything more to it after Sara Tancredi became such an important part of the show, after her relationship with Michael, and their future, became such an important thing, and a lot more real by the end of season two, to end things like this is everything but good.
It looks like she wanted more than producers were willing to pay, and since they couldn’t agree they simply let her go. But that’s really bad for the show, especially considering how bad this new season look so far.
And in such a case, why would Callies tell she was fired, and add: “I am sorry to let down the viewers. I have loved the support Sara Tancredi got from them. and though she was a victim of her own destiny, I liked how she made decisions by herself. But the way things ended up couldn’t have been foreseen. Again, I was deceived by the decision”
Either way, it’s a shame to see her go, and yet another proof this season is really off of a bad start - if you ask me. On the way things went down, we still don’t know for sure what really happened, but it really is a shame it did happened that way. For the show, and for the fans.
Interview is here, but it’s in french.

that was a cheap shot for fox to hire a look-a-like then have it’s back to the camera, which doesn’t make any sense! they should’ve at least did a closeup of just her(swc’s) eyes (remember when they showed the “garlic cutter”’s mouth?)which happened to later be revealed as prez caroline? desn’t the producers have shot “alternate” scenes for this season’s episodes that didn’t make the final cut, or was cut?
