Random News: Desperate to see House? Check out Band From TV!; Stern on Letterman; Heroes action figures…

* Ever heard of Band From TV ? It’s an actual band made by people from, well, TV. And since there’s no more TV, kind of, due to the strike, the multi-talented Hugh Laurie (House), Jamie Denton (Desperate Housewives), Greg Grunberg (Heroes), Bonnie Somerville (Cashmere Mafia) and the rest of the band will be going on tour.
Turning their collective attention to making music that will bring funding to good causes, they’ll play at Hollywood’s 3 of Clubs club, and they “have some big gigs ahead that aren’t finalized yet that will raise a lot of money. We’re also going to play some gigs in Vegas and do, like, a mini-tour,” revealed vocalist Somerville.
Not only that, but they also “recorded an album with David Foster, with proceeds going to our individual charities. We’ll do a press tour for that, and the DVD we also have coming out. You can read about each actor and our charities at BandFromTV.org”
* Letterman might have his writers, but let’s face it : that doesn’t mean his show gotten any better than is was before the strike. It’s the same writers, the same show, and if you ask me it’s not that funny, or good. But at least he’s got one strong advantage over the competition : guests.
Because there’s no picket lines to cross, he can have lots of great A-list celebrities, and he’s already started. Recently he welcomed Lucy Liu, from Cashmere Mafia, and tonight the kind of all media Howard Stern will be on, for no less than the 18th time !
* Heroes had a pretty bad season. No, an horrible, horrible, awful season I should say. And no, it didn’t get “back on tracks” during the last episodes, it only got a little less bad. It still wasn’t good, far from it. So now, NBC and what should be the show’s creative team are focusing on the right things : the Heroes dolls action figures. Isn’t that wonderful ?
