Quick News: The Emmy love Sarah Silverman, Greek coming back “soon”, Eddie Falco back to comedy, More Heigl drama

By fred | July 18, 2008

Sarah Silverman* Sure, she didn’t get a nomination for best comedy actress, but Sarah Silverman got one for her guest appearance on USA hit-comedy Monk. Not only that, but she also got another nomination, alongside Tony Barbieri, Wayne McClammy, Sal Iacono, and Dan Warner, for their little song “I’m Fucking Matt Damon!” The hilarious music video, in which she confessed to her then-still-boyfriend Jimmy Kimmel she and Damon were having some fun, was a viral sensation back in the days, and Emmy voters did enjoy it as well it seems.

Silverman and her friends are up in the “Original Music and Lyrics” category, against songs “I Ain’t Got No Rhythm” for Disney Phineas And Ferb, “The Most Beautiful Girl (In the Room)” and “Inner City Pressure” both from HBO’s Flight Of The Conchords, and “Sad Fitty Cent” from Fox’s MADtv.

* If you’re a fan of ABC Family latest hit, Greek, you’ll be happy to know the sophomore season of the show is coming back to your screen with 10 brand new episodes on Tuesday, August 26 ! Meaning that the show will also move from its old Monday slot to a new one, Tuesdays at 9.00

* Eddie Falco isn’t leaving the comedy world soon. She just received an Emmy nomination for her guest role on 30 Rock, and now Showtime is expected to announce soon it gives a series pickup to its new dark comedy, starring Edie Falco. The still-unnamed show stars Falco as a strong-willed, iconoclastic New York nurse juggling the frenzied grind of an urban hospital while also, of course, dealing with a challenging personal life. In the pilot, written by Liz Brixius, Linda Wallem and Evan Dunsky, also star Peter Facinelli, Paul Schulze, Merritt Wever, Eve Best, Haaz Sleiman and Anna Deavere Smith.

* So Katherine Heigl slapped her writers when taking her name out of the Emmy competition this year, and who knows what will happen next. Well, some do, and there are strong rumors that it could involved Izzie’s death. As I said before, I think that wouldn’t be a good idea to kill her off, but it could happen.
SPOILER ALERT:
Possible spoilers to follow, definitely, so be aware.

In fact, latest word is that creator Shonda Rhimes and the writers are a little angry at Heigl for her remark, though they publicly deny it, and could give he a brain tumor in return. “It’s their way of screwing with her. She won’t know whether she’s going to live or die.” said a source about the brain tumor plot. And it looks like this might not be just a rumor, as the rumor also talks about how Izzie would see her beloved Denny Duquette (remember him? The guy Izzie killed, I mean loved…) while affected by her brain tumor, and it has been confirmed that Jeffrey Dean Morgan would reprise his role next season, as acknowledged by an ABC rep : “We can confirm that [Morgan] will be back, but we are not releasing any further details.
