Prison Break: The Sunshine State

By fred | December 23, 2008

Prison Break(S04E16) Well, this time this is it, the last episode of the year for Prison Break, with no return date set as of yet. The six remaining episodes are expected to come back later, maybe April or March, to conclude this season, and probably even the series as a whole. But for now the focus isn’t there, it’s on Scylla of course, as it’s always been this season.

Only these days, our brand new and remodeled team isn’t looking as good as the original one, and their goal isn’t really the same : it’s not about stealing Scylla from the Company to bring it down, but getting it back so Scylla can be returned to its original owner, the Company’s General. Makes sense? Not really, but who the Hell cares!

Only, really, things aren’t as fun as they used to be. I’m not sure exactly what they said to Gretchen, Self and T-Bag that would make them agree to work for them, and with Linc, but it worked. Thing is, that new team looks just wrong. Back in the days, and that’s only a handful of episodes ago, the A-Team at least had a sense of cohesion in its own twisted ways, but now our B-Team isn’t really there.

It’s not just that we don’t trust those people, it’s also that they’re annoying as Hell. Seriously, why hasn’t anyone shot Self already?? I don’t get it. I would have killed him back at the warehouse already, but when he was all “we took a vote and you’re out” to Linc, I couldn’t see what was stopping him from shooting the guy and moving on. The Company asked Linc to get Scylla, they don’t care about this looser who’s done all he could to make things fail.

He’s not in charge, vote or not, and I can’t wait for him to die. Didn’t happen though, and instead Mahone walked in. Okay, so, how did that happen?? The guy hasn’t been kept aware of the latest development, he was in custody of the FBI, so what? Did he just thought that the next logical move would be for Linc & co to work for the Company so he showed up at the General’s door and asked for directions?

Or maybe he thought it’d only make sense they moved to Miami and called hotel there ? I mean he didn’t know what was going on, he didn’t talk to Michael, Sara, Linc or no one clearly seeing how things went down, so what?

But if for some reason no one’s killing Self, they’re not putting Gretchen to rest either. Let’s see, she’s behind Michael’s trip to Sona, she kidnapped Sara and Linc’s own LJ, threaten their lives, she’s tried to kill them more than once, and she was selling them again — before she changed her mind at the very last minute, of course. Now why would Linc not kill her, really?

Side note: was she really trying to play that card with Linc? After all she did to the guy and his family, she thought he’d be interested in her that way?

If things there were not really good, it wasn’t better with Michael, still stuck in a filler aimed at one thing : telling him his mother was still alive. No real shocker there, as since last week we already suspected she was the mysterious buyer for Scylla, so that’s one weak cliffhanger to left us with. But the most amazing part is, when Sara popped up exactly at the right time to save Michael while he was escaping (yep, her timing couldn’t have been better…) what did she do? Nothing.

I mean, they’re done putting the Company down, now they’re only trying to get Scylla back so that the Company would let Michael go, so that they could have their lives back. Given how they’re obviously lying (see them trying to recruit and drug Michael for instance), why didn’t Sara call Linc right away, told him she had Michael, he escaped, he was right there with her, fine and safe, so he could grab a friend if he had one with him (Mahone) and get off. Just let Self and T-Bag and everyone else in their crap, go away, meet Sara & Michael some place, go get LJ and all vanish.

For one, Linc would probably love to hear that his brother is safe, and out of the Company’s hands. Then, since they clearly don’t intend to “let them go free” and put the past behind them, there’s absolutely no freaking point for them to keep tracking Scylla down. At all.

Of but of course, mommy is back in town, and she’s a good person after all and despite appearances, and so is The Company, let’s forget all that took place before today and be a family again! No seriously, I’m fine with closing my eyes on a few things, some very huge one (like Sara loosing her head and all…) but this is really getting too much.

As far as I’m concerned, they have no reason whatsoever to track Scylla, and mommy was better dead, let’s pretend she still is and stop the crap while it’s still time.

About you? Still having fun? Are you curious about why the mother is Company, or what she wants to do with Scylla? Am I wrong, would you have not called Linc either? And of course : are you going to be there, whenever Fox decides to put the last episodes back on the air ?
