New Stunt Casting For How I Met Your Mother, But Why??

I don’t get it, I really don’t. The show has been having a good season so far, so why would they want to ruin How I Met Your Mother again ??

Yes, I say again, because unless you ask a CBS exec anyone will tell you Britney Spears was a disaster on the show last season, it was horrible and even more so the second time around. And quite frankly, as delightful as Sarah Chalke might have been at first, pretty soon the whole plot about Stella turned black and went nowhere fun, or funny.

The show is assured to be renewed for another season already, thanks to syndication deal, so why in Barney’s name would they agree to go down that awful road again ?? It’s just not good for the show, at all, too much crazy for not enough hot.

Okay, I’ll admit it, I do watch TV, for real, so what I care about first is the show itself and its quality, that it is actually good, and maybe that’s why I don’t get it. I’ve never been a fan of stunt casting, it’s often a desperate attempt to try to boost ratings for a dying show (see NBC announcing more stunt casting to come for Knight Rider), and while sometimes the creative minds behind a show can actually pull it off, see how 30 Rock seems to have masterminded the art of stunt casting, for other shows things are far from being that way.

And when it comes to it, How I Met Your Mother isn’t good at playing that game. It’s not their thing, that’s all. They’re brilliant and better than any other sitcom out there on other levels, but not there. We’ve had plenty of bad experience in the past already, the whole Britney mess was just that, a mess, so why would they do it again, and the very same way… because they’re not even casting actors who could, you know, act.

Instead, co-creator Craig Thomas confirmed that for one episode of How I Met Your Mother, we’ll have to go through it again. “We can confirm that Heidi and Spencer will appear on the show. But we can’t give away anything specific about the episode. All we can say is that they play themselves, and one of them is the Mother.”

Try to joke all you want, but this isn’t funny, this plain sucks. Did anyone really thought Barney was funny “mocking” Ted with train-wreck-who-cannot-act Britney by his side ? Really !?? And to add to the suffering, it’s now been confirmed that Kim Kardashian will also join the “fun” !

This just pains me, it really does. Why should it be this awesome little show that CBS decided to torture with awful stunt casting ? Don’t they have any respect for their shows, the people working there or the fans ? Oh right, silly me, it’s CBS we’re talking about…
