New season of 24 delayed - Hopefully ABC will copy them…

Ok, so the strike got its first big casualty : Jack Bauer. Fox announced that they would not air the new season of their hit drama 24 as expected, but instead will wait until they can air it the way it should be, that is one fully uninterrupted season.
I know many fans of the show will be pissed by such news, and that’s understandable. I haven’t been the biggest fan of the show for a few years now, but I kept watching every year - even during the full season last year. Yes, all the way through the end.
And while having to do this year without 24 isn’t a good thing, I would like to thank Fox for - on this one - not being total morons. Because obviously, airing only eight episodes and then nothing. Only months after that would the season return, that would have been the worst decision ever.
Sadly, it seems ABC will do that stupid mistake with Lost. I know I reported this already, and how Lost producers themselves whishes the network would hold on to those episodes until the whole season could air. Because really, I mean really think about it : do you want to see eight episodes building up to something, and then nothing. Sure, there’s a cliffhanger, but it hasn’t been written or retooled with the strike in mind (Thank God), it’s not a season finale, it’s just a regular episode in the middle of the season.
Do you really want to see that, and then have months and months without Lost, only to get it back in the middle of a story whose details you’ll have forgotten about ?
I’m a huge fan of Lost, and I don’t want to have to wait till 2009 to see a new episode. But I’d rather wait that much, and get a 32 episodes block of two seasons back to back that would rule my whole year of television then, than a mid season here, and the rest of it thrown there.
