New female cast on 24

By fred | August 21, 2007

Another casting news have been revealed regarding 24, and let me spoil it for you if you don’t know about it already : it is not Kristen Bell!

But just because it’s not a casting news for Heroes or about Kristen Bell doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be ignored. Wanna know the name of the new actress that will be seen on Day 7 of Jack Bauer? It’s after the jump…

TV Guide reported that Actress-comedian Janeane Garofalo, who - as everyone had to point out - is an outspoken liberal, unlike creator & executive producer Joel Surnow, has joined the cast of the upcoming season of 24.

Not much has been revealed about her character, but we know she will play a government agent who is part of the team investigating the crisis befalling Jack Bauer, and that she’s a regular. Should already be a hint as to what one of the main plots will be about…
Now that Jack can’t call the President to chit-chat about terrorists, maybe all the conspiracies will come from there.

Many have also pointed out some resemblances between Garofalo and Mary Lynn Rajskub’s Chloe O’Brian, but that does not mean anything. Why is anyone thinking the two could be related? 24 wouldn’t fall into another family drama BS after season 6, they just wouldn’t, would they?

One thing I would love to see on Day 7 is Chloe turning her back on Jack. She’s always been way (too) loyal when it comes to Jack, helping him, regardless of the risks. She’s been willing to put her job, and more, for the guy. Seriously, how awesome would it be to have her pull out a 360 on this new day. I mean, she could be pressured by her sister or whatever, and found herself with a huge maternal instinct making her choose her new born over Jack, no?

Better yet, have Jack be a bad guy, for real, finally! Man I would love that…
