Network presidents fighting

By fred | July 26, 2007

You know what, the new NBC show Bionic Woman is probably one of the most talked about of the upcoming shows, but that has pretty much nothing to do with the show in itself. And the more it goes and the more I learn about the show, the more I fear that not only it will be a crappy show, but it will be a quite popular one too.
Because face it, sometimes crappy shows are incredibly popular.

The latest news that got us talking about that show, though, has in interesting twist. The one promoting the new NBC show is no other than ABC president Stephen McPherson !

Let’s go into the story of two network presidents fighting over gay-basher Isaiah Washington, for the good of NBC’s Bionic Woman.

McPherson said that his counterpart at NBC, Ben Silverman, was either “clueless or stupid” in his comments about how and why he hired Isaiah Washington for a role on the show.

After the whole mess starting with Washington using homophobic slur towards cast members of ABC’s soap Grey’s Anatomy on set, and later on at the Golden Globes, McPherson decided not to have him back for next season.
Then he blame the whole thing on he’s being black. I think he got “black” mixed up with “stupid gay-hater” but whatever.

After Silverman hired him to guest on Bionic Woman for five episodes or so (surely if not only the show does well, but Washington too, he could become a series regular), he declared himself shocked when learning ABC decided to let him go. “When he told me he was available I was like, You are? Wait, I don’t understand. What do you mean? You’re a huge star on a star television show. I don’t quite understand what had gone on there.

Yeah, right.

That non-sense left McPherson wondering “Was he living in a cave?“, and convinced me a little more the show will not be good. I’ve only seen some shot clips as well as the opening scene for now, but it didn’t looked good.
