NBC cancels Lipstick Jungle and My Own Worst Enemy; The CW wants more Privileged
By fred | November 13, 2008
* ..and so do I! Good news for every fans of The CW’s best new series of the season, Privileged. It might not be a full season pick-up, but it’s been reported that The CW ordered five additional episodes of the show. And not only that, but in order to try and give a little boost to the show, two episodes will have the privileged to air in the coveted timeslot that is Mondays at 9.00 right after Gossip Girl.
On December 1st and December 8th new episodes of Privileged will have their original airing on Monday at 9.00 after Gossip Girl (where reruns of One Tree Hill where originally scheduled), and will be reruned on the show’s official slot, Tuesdays at 9.00
Clearly a vote of confidence from the net, who believes - rightly so - that the show has potential to grow. And it does, week after week it’s been great and getting better, and I sure hope The CW will have faith in the show just like they did Gossip Girl in its first season… it paid off then, I’m sure it will now.
* In other news, what will come as no surprise is the announcement that NBC canceled both new series My Own Worst Enemy and returning Lipstick Jungle, recently moved to die on Fridays. When it comes to My Own Worst Enemy it makes sense, the show was supposed to be NBC’s big hit this season, but it was crap and failed to deliver. This was expected, and is yet another proof of Ben Silverman’s failure… Maybe it’s time to let him go now ??
As for Lipstick Jungle, it’s no surprise considering the show was moved to Fridays, but it’s also a shame because it wasn’t all that bad after all. What’s really sad is to see Lipstick Jungle being canceled, but the mega crap that are Knight Rider or Kath & Kim still have the net support and have been picked up for full seasons… Gosh, no wonder NBC is in the toilet!
No word yet whether My Own Worst Enemy will air on Monday or not, or what it will eventually be replaced with. As of now, the ninth (and final) episode is being shot. As for Lipstick, all 13 episodes ordered have been completed, no word either whether or not they’ll make it to the air.
