More Of The Office On NBC Next Season : Spinoff Incoming!
By fred | April 2, 2008
It had been mentioned in the past already, but this is now turning into a reality : NBC should announce during its upfront news conference Wednesday that a spinoff for its Emmy-winning hit-comedy The Office has been greenlighted !
Apparently, there’s already been a full order (13 episodes) for the new series, since NBC now believes in selecting a few shows and really investing in them instead of ordering dozens of pilots only to pick a few of them.
No details on what exactly this spinoff will be about, or who will star. I can only hope that (a) no one from The Office goes away, cause that would really suck, and (b) it doesn’t try to be just a clone of the original. I don’t know what it’s gonna be about, maybe since Unhitched is pretty much dead, it will focus on Karen (Rashida Jones) in her new adventures, but that, following the live of the warehouse, or any other Office clone for that matter, doesn’t sound that good an idea to me at this point.
But NBC can’t have any original idea, that’s why they go for Office spinoff, Knight Rider, and well-known stories like Robinson Crusoe or Jekyll & Hyde…
Anyways, the new series is said to be introduced with a special episode of The Office leading to it, before premiering on February 1st after NBC’s broadcast of the SuperBowl, before finding it’s regular slot after The Office, Thursdays at 9.30 - in other words, no more Scrubs.
Let’s pretend we don’t care about Scrubs, since the show should have its final season on ABC - Are you happy/excited about this “new” series, or not ?
