More Episodes For Lost Season 4 ?
By fred | February 9, 2008
As you probably head, rumors are out that a deal is being worked out between WGA and AMPTP and that the strike could be resolved soon. If both sides can agree on a first contract, people could go back to work even before the final deal is actually signed.
Of course, every Lost fan is then asking himself, what does that mean for the show ? This season was originally supposed to be, as every remaining seasons for the show, made out of 16 episodes. But before the strike only half of them could be completed, and ABC started to air those. But if the strike was to end soon - the hope is that an announcement of resolution could came out on Monday, and the deadline for this to be possible would be February 15 - there could be hope for a “full” season !
Should the strike come to an end rapidly, Lost is expected to go back into production as soon as possible, with the goal to shoot 4 to 6 episodes of the remaining 8 originally planned, said Lost very own Matthew Fox recently. Though they would likely not be airing right after episode 8 (last one completed so far) of the season, they would be on ABC’s schedule around April or May and bring season 4 to 12 to 14 episodes.
There are no official statement from anyone, and it is not known whether the original plan for the second half of the season would simply be shrunk down to 6 episodes, or if (major) adjustments would be made. Either way, needless to say that more episodes is by definition a great news, and it would also allow writers to end the season and actually give us a season finale, something that was not done, obviously, in episode 8.
In such a case, it is likely that next season would be expended from 16 to 18 (or 20) episodes, so that the total number of episodes of the series wouldn’t be affected.
So now the strike really had to end this week-end, because we really need more Lost, and more importantly we really need a season that ends with an actual season finale !
And if you are wondering about the future of other shows, be sure to check out the list I compiled of when shows might be returning if the strike was resolved soon.
