While the show isn’t a huge hit so far, and might be the least exciting of all the Jerry Bruckheimer’s procedural to date, Eleventh Hour is far from being a failure either. While it only retains 60% of the audience of its lead-in, CSI, the show is winning its slot week in week out (though E.R. wins on the demo) and has averaged close to 12 million viewers a night, making it the second-best new series of the season, right after The Mentalist.
So it’s only logical that CBS would keep it around, and The Eye confirmed a “back-five” order, bringing the full season to a total of 18 episodes. Not going for a full back-nine order probably means the net plans to try another program in the show’s valuable post-CSI slot before the end of the year, looking for a show to have a better retention that Eleventh Hour does…
