Letterman and WGA signed a deal !!

Alright, what was supposed to happened finally happened : David Letterman’s production company, Worldwide Pants, now has worked out a deal with the WGA, according to its new “divide and conquer” strategy, and as a result when both Letterman and Ferguson come back on the air January 2nd, like most other late night shows such as Leno’s and Conan’s will as well, only the formers will have WGA blessing, and writers !!
This is truly a great news, because as I’ve expressed in the past this can only help the WGA’s cause, and hopefully motivated others to break out from the AMPTP bullshit and go back to negotiate with the WGA directly.
This means both Letterman’s and Ferguson’s shows will be fully back, with writers and all celebrities they want, given how they’ll be able to book every actors out there, including writers’ supporters who are refusing to cross picket lines given that, here, there won’t be any.
I am personally a fan of Letterman, and I honestly think his show is really not one of the best out there. But whether you agree or not is irrelevant now, either way his show will be the one to watch, and given how he was always supportive of the writers it should be interesting to see how the whole situation will be mentioned on the air. I bet writers are ready to write hilarious strike-related sketches for months !
As for the other late night shows, I think no one should watch them. Sure, the idea that it could suck and be a total mess can make it interesting, I get that, but if you want to support the writers and not the studios, you have to watch Letterman and Ferguson, and only them. In fact, that’s what Conan, Leno and everyone else should do too…
Now if only the AMPTP self-claimed strong unity could show its first cracks soon, it could only be great, for all of us. And yes that actually includes networks and studios too !
