Lennie James Finds New Show: Is Jericho Dead, For Good ?

By fred | July 26, 2008

Lennie JamesWell, I guess this might be a bad news for all the Jericho Rangers out there who still had hopes their recent efforts to find a new home for their favorite show would succeed, because this could be a sign it won’t happen.

Jericho star Lennie James, best know as Robert Hawkins to the fans, just signed for a new mini-series on AMC, the remake of the classic 1960s show The Prisoner. He will play “Number 147″, a resident of the mysterious Village where a former secret agent, now known as “Number 6″ (Jim Caviezel) finds himself imprisoned.

Other actors to have signed on for the project include Ian McKellen (casted as “Number 2″, apparent head of the Village), Golden Globe nominee Ruth Wilson, Hayley Atwell and Jamie Campbell-Bower.

Now of course, this is “just” a mini-series, that is there will only be six episodes, so I guess it’s not like James has signed on as a new series regular, but it’s another sign he is moving on, which only makes sense. Time is running out, and soon either he or others from the Jericho cast will have new deals that will make the Jericho revival simply impossible; because don’t fool yourself, you don’t make Jericho without Jake or, of course, Hawkins, and soon that won’t be a possibility anymore.

The six-hour miniseries is scheduled to air on AMC sometime next year.

    Congratulations Lennie!

I am a Jericho fan and I am well aware of the time that has gone by and that the actors must take other jobs. What I am hoping for is that everyone who has been involved with Jericho continues to stay enthusiastic and open minded about how the story can continue. This includes the fans.

The more flexible everyone remains the better. Timing only really play’s a part for the child actors and in this special case I am willing to let Sam Hawkins grow up a little offscreen and not hold it against him.

I can’t wait to see Lennie in The Prisoner.

I also hope that all the cast will be able to return to Jericho, once the detials of the revival are worked out.

    Gwen
