Late Night Shows Are Back, Part V : Ferguson
By fred | January 3, 2008
And to end our review of all late night shows coming back last night, we end with the only other one besides Letterman who actually had writers : Craig Ferguson.
Honestly, I rarely watch this show, but I’m not sure why. Because every time I found myself watching it, I liked it. I think the guy is pretty funny, and his interviews seem to always be quite fun and refreshing. Maybe I got lucky, or maybe I should watch it more often.
Anyways, he was back, with writers, and with a pretty cool monologue :
I’ll be honest, I don’t have much to say about his show. I have only see the monologue above, not the actual show. As for what he said here, it was all good, pretty funny, and it may have been not as centered on the strike as other shows, but unlike most of them he has writers, and Letterman is already working the whole strike thing, so having a lighter show, more in the same tone that the show (probably) usually is, doesn’t sound like such a bad idea.
The show is back, as before (with writers), so why should they change anything ?
“I just want to send a message to all the D-list celebrities of Hollywood : you are still welcome here. We will still be having Kathy Griffin here, the guy who invented the electric cheese cutter will still be here, people who can fart musical notes they’ll be here. This show will be the same, lame, crap as always, we will not change a thing ! It will be garbage ! And I make you this pledge, people of America, we will not improve this show ! It will not be funnier! It will not be better!“
