Kathryn Morris got herself a nice raise

By fred | August 25, 2007

Kathryn MorrisRemember a few weeks ago, when Cold Case star Kathryn Morris started to make some remarks & express complaints about the way the show, and her character, was evolving. Well, turns out it was indeed a move to get more out of it, and she did succeed!

As the show’s fith season is in production and will premiere September 23rd, at 9pm on CBS, Morris just got herself a salary bump — reportedly to $180,000-$190,000 an episode, and a production deal.

It is common practice for stars of successful series to get production deals with the studio behind the series asides from their high salary. For instance, Anthony LaPaglia, the star of Without A Trace launched his Last Straw Prods. two years ago.
Like Cold Case, the CBS drama is a production of Jerry Bruckheimer.

Cold Case - starring Morris as Lilly Rush, a dedicated detective working for homicide section of the Philadelphia Police Department on unsolved crimes - has been getting solid ratings ever since its launch in 2003. In 2004, the procedural drama fetched $1.4 million per episode in an off-net syndication deal with TNT. The cable network will begin running repeats in the fall.

Morris is launching her own production company, which will have a first-look deal with WBTV, producer of the show as well. She is in the process of hiring a development executive.

Additionally, Morris has scored a role in the dark comedy The Sophomore, set in a high school with Bruce Willis as principal. Morris will play the stoner high school Nurse Platt. She will shoot next month, working around her Cold Cast schedule.

Morris can also be seen in Resurrecting the Champ, with Josh Hartnett and Samuel L. Jackson.
