Jericho: The Alternate Ending Is Here!!
By fred | June 12, 2008
Remember Jericho ? That CBS series about the people from the little town of Jericho, and how they had to survive and eventually save the free world after a nuclear attack was launched upon the USA, and multiple bombs actually went off in all major cities. I’m sure you remember it, it’s the show CBS killed during their first season, and then brought back for a (too) brief second season after millions of fans went literally nuts…
As we all know, we’ve seen the series finale of the show, since CBS decided against renewing the show for third season. But, as they were working, producers were still hoping for one, and so they had done two endings : the one we saw, and one with another season in mind. This alternate ending will be on the DVDs of the second (and final) season of Jericho, coming June 17, but if you can’t wait you can see it right here, right now !
Here, now you know. While in what we saw our great savior, the Black Jack Bauer, Hawkins was brought safe home with Jake and the bomb, had there been a third season he didn’t make it, so while the rest of the country would be heading into a major civil war, I’m guessing the third season would have had a more personal focus on saving Hawkins — because as you and I know, let’s face it, without him they can’t save the world.
The second season DVDs will include this alternative ending of course, but also deleted scenes, audio commentary and two behind-the-scenes featurettes : Nut Job, about how fans saved the series from cancellation after its first season, and Rebuilding Jericho, explaining how it was resurrected.
Sounds like a good gift for all Jericho nuts out there, and it’s coming June 17.
And now that you’ve seen it, do you regret it even more, that there won’t be a third season of Jericho ?

I’m happy for the Jericho fans. They’ve worked hard for more Jericho and their hard work has paid off. Sort of. What they should have had is a real season two, promoted well and not in that Tuesday night deadzone timeslot. I don’t know why CBS insists on infuriating the viewers that turn in to watch their programming. It’s not hard to understand why they don’t get the 18-49 demographic. Long live Jericho.
