Jericho fans can be pleased… NOT!

During their whole “Nuts” campaign, one thing Jericho fans made clear was that the show did not loose a part of its original audience because of quality matters or anything like that, but because of how CBS dealt with the show.
Because CBS execs decided to have the show go for an awfully way-too-long hiatus, during which they did not - as originally planned - air reruns, followed, if that wasn’t enough, by a lack of promotion for its return.
Well, CBS president Nina Tassler has acknowledged that it was indeed CBS’s poor handling of the show that was to blame for its decline. She admitted to the press that the hiatus Jericho went through was indeed the (primary) factor in killing off the show.
Not only did fans made CBS execs “change their minds”, but they also had them admit to their faults! Pretty good don’t you think.
There’s only one thing “wrong” in this story : those are only words.
But in fact, it doesn’t go that way. Sure, they say they were responsible, but they probably don’t even realize if is, in fact, the truth. To them, it might only be a lie used to calm things down, for the media/fans.
Because if indeed CBS is to blame for poorly dealing with the show, resulting in its decline and loosing viewers, why did they not renew it for a full second season, and this time do things right? Why don’t CBS assume their responsibilities, instead of only pretending to admit their wrongs?
They screwed up, and handled the first season of the show very badly, resulting in its decline. Then it would only seem fair to give it a real, full, second chance, and season. Especially since they already knew that, given a chance to be seen, the show would have an audience. And a pretty good one, I mean, as they recognized themselves, it’s not every day fans “go nuts” to the point to have network execs admit they did wrong and bring a show back!
Truth is, Jericho fans fought, fought pretty well actually, but in the end CBS is the winner, because never mind their words, fans don’t get a full season of their shows, neither will they get the answers and closure they were fighting for.
